There are far fewer mods and mod makers than there used to be? I remember 5 & 6 years ago how many more fansites and mods there used to be. Any clue?

Define what you mean by Mod? Are you including custom databases, facepacks, uniforms?

If you aren't, maybe the community has moved from one type of modding to another type.

And as to sites, the community is a lot more organized, and the worthwhile mods tend to gravitate to a small number of sites now.

Without adding a great deal, because much of what used to be required of us is now done within the game.
