Guaging Interest: OOWP Playoffs Tool

Been taking an extended break from OOTP mod programming this summer, but as MLB playoff season is approaching, so to is my own solo OOTP playoffs. As some of you know, I create my own offline HTML reports for my NABL solo league. Earlier this year, I mapped out plans to create an automated version of this for my OOWP mod called the OOTP Playoffs module.

Before jumping into the couple weeks of work needed to get this built and released, I first wanted to guage the mod communities interest in this type of a tool. Would anyone be interested in a tool to present their playoffs for their online or solo leagues? Below are some preview images of the types of pages that will be possible with this tool. I can also post the schematics of the admin pages that will be used to build post-season sites for peoples leagues.

NOTE: I want to guage interest because the changes to the MLB playoff strucutre and OOTP 13's own Expanded Playoff options throw a developmental curve into building this tool, so I only want to go down this road if their is real interest from the community in using it.

So I have started the effort to make this happen, with a slight twist.

North American Baseball League Playoffs Summary

Since I use StatsLab to generate the series summary pages that accompany my offline HTML reports and Frank has not updated StatsLab to v13 yet, I took it upon myself to take a stab at updating it. StatsLab, unfortunately, requires some more tinkering beyond just the playoffs page. Since Frank has generously accepted my request to pull portions of StatsLab code to my open platform, I decided to roll the playoffs overview into the open web platform framework as a basis for starting the effort to make my above layouts dynamic. So here's and early alpha of an OOTP 13 compatible playoff overview based on Frank's excellent work in StatsLab. I updated the UI to use Twitter Bootstrap and have given it a modern ESPN like feel.

The guts of this mod also use some really awesome new conventions which I plan to share very soon. More to come on my plans for this Playoffs module and big news regarding the 0.3 release of my open platform is coming soon!

NOTE: The playoffs module should also be backwards compatible back to OOTP 10! It's also an early work in progress so be ready to encounter issues and bugs. If you do, please note them on the playoffs issues page on Github.

Hey guys, thanks for the feedback. Wanted to give an update.

I took an extended break from coding this during the fall and have become busy with other projects. I'm also waiting to see what happens with the Bonfire library that all these tools are based upon which is sort of in a state of flux right now. I want to see where that ends up before investing too much more time in modules like this. So stay tuned. More hopefully on the way down the road.

The very first version of this tool has been released. As stated before, this first release is basically just a port of the StatsLab summary and series overview pages to my HMVC design with some updates for the OOTP 13 and up playoff restructuring and look and feel improvements to the pages (diverting from the standard OOTP HTML look and feel).

The next step, implementing my own custom playoff looks and feel and custom content editors, is still up in the air. Depends on what time I have available and when.

You can download the playoffs tool as part of the larger fox open sports platform v 0.3.
