Default font?

I was wondering if anyone knew how to change the default white font to a darker color? I'd like to use a white background but the font clashes and it's hard to make out. I've tried changing it in the skins colour.cfg file but it had no effect.

what about making it better under Setup/Prefences?

There doesn't appear to be an option for the default font. There's an option to use the team text colors but it's already on.
