Exclamation Importing of OOTP 6 leagues

I just completed the importing routine for OOTP 6.12/6.5x leagues. I am glad I got it done, it was very difficult because of the huge differences in the database layout.

A lot of things can not be directly imported, it was just impossible or way too time consuming to code this. So, what does not import?
- Any history of any kind (team history, league history, player history, record books etc.)
- Any coaches (fictional coaches/scout get generated and added instead)
- Lineups, depth charts and pitching roles
- Career minor league stats
- Team logos or player pictures (the game does no longer support .BMP files)
- Manager mode (your manager)
- Any passwords

Also, you can only import leagues that are on Opening Day. You can import a league when you create a new game. No minor leagues are added by default, so you can chose what kind of minors you want in your league, if at all. If you do add minors, they will be filled up with fictional players automatically.

OK, now I need a beer

What about major league stats and do they come through in career leaders?

Actually, the only thing that I wish could import out of the list is the history. Is it possible that someone can create a 3rd party utility to convert more?

Major league stats are correctly imported and used in places like career leader boards.

I doubt anyone will be able to code a tool that converts the text file format that OOTP 6 used into the binary format that the new version uses.

To me this is good news, other then the histories no big loss.

I know it would be hard, but what about manually adding some histories? Is that possible?

You could manually change the player history text files, but not the rest.

Again, I think this is good news for online league. It could of been alot worse.

Hopefully someone can code something where we can code some utility that may allow editing :-) If not, i am very satisfied with this news. Just wish we can carry over World Series winners :-)

In my opinion, that's the most important thing. The rest is filler.

This is great news!

Yeah, it doesn't affect me much personally as I don't have any ongoing solo leagues and the two online leagues I've joined haven't started up yet but it seems like leagues are going to lose a serious amount of flavor and atmosphere if they choose to make the conversion.

Well, that's great for you then, because that's about all that you're going to get!

Well, we have to look on the bright side. It could have been worse. The major league stats might not have been importable.

Looks like people will have to keep a part 1 of their history in cato to go along with future league history in game. Or manually do html pages displaying certain league infor like past champions, etc. Or maybe a modder will figure out a way to combine them both into a cato like program?

Will leagues be able to move their existing minor league system players over?

Rob beat me too it. I think the whole minor league player import needs clarification. What exactly from the 6.5 leagues import as far as minor league players goes?
