That would be great.

FIW:

Here is some of the financial information I am starting with in 1871 based on a scant bit of research. Working backward to 1871 will likely look different and I most certainly will change this as I tinker with it, I still am unsure about the coefficient bit.

Avg Att: 3,500
Avg Ticket price: 0.50
Min Serv for FA: 1 year
Min Serv for Sal Arb: 1 year (will change FA min to 8 years in 1880 and do away with FA in 1885)
Media contract: 20,000
Salary Cap: 30,000
Cash max: 40,000
Coach: 1,000
Min Player: 750
Super Star: 4,000
Star: 3,000
Good: 2,000
Above avg: 1,500
Avg: 1,000
Below Avg: 900
Fair: 800
Poor: 750

I have active rosters at 22, reserve at 25, 3 man rotation

If I can spread the schedule out, I would like to have one pitcher toss most of the games if I can. These teams generally had one guy with a 'switch' pitcher that played another position.

Not sure if I'm going to be able to get this hosted anywhere today. If anyone wants a copy to test out - with the patch? - PM me with your email address.

#1 They updated the source website I am using with new data. Yay!

#2 All the hard work is done. Just a few copy/pastes to do, and I will have a rough draft ready to post in mid afternoon ( US EDT ) today.

Fidel is in Japan, so I don't know how fast this will be hosted.

Need a test for the year 1871. I am at work and can't test.

suggested coefficient = 0.00065

How low can the game go?

If you enter .00065, it sets it to .001. I don't know if that's display only and it's retained the .00065, but it might be best to keep it clear.

#1 Good to hear that it worked.

#2 Updated spreadsheet emailed to F. Montoya and All Sim Baseball. It covers 1871-2005 now.

A sample: A coach would make $130 a year in 1871.

#3 The ability to keep five decimals was made a long time ago, so here's hoping for its' eventual adoption.

That is quite a bit lower than I would expect given that player salaries were in the $800 to $2,000 range for average baseballers in 1874. (that's the only solid piece that I have.)

How does the coefficient work for other eras when compared to reality?

For my quickstart, I've used the 0.001, then just changed the average attendance (5,000) and ticket price ($0.50). Left everything else to the coefficient, but anyone who wants it should be able to adjust these themselves without a problem.

All my coefficient does is turn 2004 dollars into that years dollars. The actual curve is not altered.

For better accuracy, alter the figures to what you research or guts tell you. All I can do with my spreadsheet is cut down on the giggles.

If you set up a schedule with just three games per week (say, on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, which is about correct historically speaking) then with a 2-man rotation each pitcher will get 3 or 4 days of rest between every start; the third pitcher will never be needed.

With a five games per week schedule (on, say, Mon-Tue-Wed and Fri-Sat) you can have a 3-man rotation with the pitchers getting 3 days off between most starts and 4 days off for the remaining starts.

Hey guys. I've got this up at my site now. As long as my bandwidth holds out, I'll keep it available.

Thanks for the scheduling tip LGO and the files RMY and Raidergoo. Those coefficients do seem to get you within spitting distance of good financials - they will be a big help.

After the patch, all the issues surrounding 1871 have disappeared. I can alter league size et cetera - this is great!

I am going to tinker with a schedule now unless someone knows of an easy way to get a 54 or so game schedule spread out with no more than 3 games per week. I also am looking forward to tinkering at getting HRs down, bunts up, strikouts down, et cetera.

Thanks again for all the help folks.

1871-2005 coefficients DELAYED

It turns out that the file did not get attached to my email to F. Montoya, so it will be a day before the data goes up on All Sim Baseball.

Still imports 1872 rookies though, doesn't it?
