just to add

batter of the week - 46
batter of the month - 35
mvps - 12
gold gloves - 2
all star - 6 (that's AI error i think - you cant have 12 mvps but only 6 all star apps)

Also career leader in vorp, runs, total bases, home runs, rbis, walks

and the best of all, he is still playing

Not in the real world anyway, where you would surely be voted in consistently by the fans with those sorts of performances. However, I might believe the AI would freeze you out if you are a slow starter and are terrific in the second half of the season year after year.

I just stopped the league in 2004.

Ruth, Mantle, Pee Wee Reese and Aaron dominated the batting

Roger Clemens 250-178 career. Spent all of it in Boston. 3.77 era. did not make the hall of fame.

St Louis cards 16 World Series wins, Yanks with 12

I played with injuries at normal, quite a few QEIs

I will be happy to look up player performances.

Griffey suffered a back injury in 93 which kept him out for 13 months. He recovered, but does not seem to have the power of his real life.

Nobody really stood out apart from CY Young

Gooden and Cone were awsome for the Mets

Doc Gooden was also part of that Mets team. He finished with 4 cyyoungs as well as a rookie of the year award. Finished 215-107; 2.68 career era; 3444 Ks, HOF
Best year in 89: 29-9, 1.97 era and 87: 24-6 (1.58 era)

Cone

2 Cy Youngs

231-150, 3.25 era, won 4 WS crowns with the Mets

How odd that Mantle played all those years, and did all that damage, and never once was hit by a pitch. How adroit! How nimble!

Perhaps the 40 stolen bases in his final season was a reflection of his other-worldly talent.

I dont see a lick of difference between this iteration and the previous versions in accurately producing the type of production a real human being--even a Mantle--could be expected to achieve. Color me disappointed.

Why would Mantle not perform like that? Without all the partying and knee problems, he could have really had a totally different career. He thought he was going to die young, like his father, so he hardly tried to take proper care of himself. The OOTP2006 Mantle didn't have those worries, so he took good care of his body and went out there swinging everyday.
