Alittle Lost and Confused-- Need Some Help

Hey All

Newbie question here. I been doing some research and want to really get into this game but i am a bit lost and confused about something

Ok ootp 5 is out and can be downloaded for free

However then i see there is a version 6 and 6.5?

What i am confused about are they the same game?

If not which is out and which comes out in May 31st?

Is 6 the game and is 6.5 an expansion? If so is 6 out and 6.5 coming out?

Any of these you could answer to help a new person converting over from strat o matic would be great thanks

v6 is the current version of the game and v6.5 was the expansion pack. OOTP2006 is the brand new version that comes out on May 31st.

Ok just so i understand this

v6 and 6.5 are out already

BUT

the new version of the game ootp2006 will come out in may and that is the brand new version of the game. More up to date then both v6 and 6.5?

If thats true why didnt they call it v7?

OOTP was bought by SI and the new version is using their naming convention, which uses the current year. But basically it's OOTP 7.

Just to re-clarify:

Out of the Park Baseball 2006 is the new version due out May 31st. New company, re-write of the game, all of that fun stuff. Big changes.

OOTP 6.12 was the last main version of the game that was released, and there was an expansion pack that went on top of that, OOTP 6.5. So OOTP 6.5 is the newest version currently available, and it still costs money both for 6.12 and for the expansion pack.

OOTP 5 is an older version of the game, that they are currently offering for free as a promotion to get people to try out the series.
