Scouting Ammy Draft

I'm at April 30'th in my league and I know that it takes about a full month to scout the draft. How do I assign my scouts to scout the draft? I see the list of available players but can't find a way to scout them. Thanks in advance!

on my game on may 15th is when the draft rosters are allowed to get scouted.

All you should have to do is go to the transactions page and there should be a tab that says draft. select that tab and then in the bottom right corner you select the scouting option and select your scout. Then just watch your mail box for the email from you scout.

The draft is important enough to perhaps allocate two or more scouts to evaluate it.

Not sure if it even matters. I have 2 scouts who have 19 each in scouting hitters. Everytime one would rate on a 70-80, the other would have the opposite of about 20-40. Almost EVERY time, except maybe the first 5 elite players in the draft.

Is there anyway to see college/HS stats? The scouts are useless and I am thinking of turning them off. It is funny because I will have my head scout do his automatic scouting of my roster on the first of the month, and then scout a player again in a few days and his rating will change 5 points.

I make sure to send at least three (usually all) scouts to the draft pool so I can at look at the average of their reports and get reasonably close to the player's true potential.

Example: Scout 1 comes back with a pitcher rated at 9-8-7, Scout 2 comes back with the pitcher rated at 5-5-8 and Scout 3 comes back with 7-5-6. The average of those would come back as 7-6-7 and would give me a pretty good idea of his talent, and the fact that those ratings are close to Scout 3's opinion reinforces that.

IMO, if you're going by any less than three scout's opinions on any player during the draft, you're taking a risk that you probably shouldn't.

That's because your head scout will do a quick scout of the players every month. They aren't very precise, but they're usually in the ballpark. When you send him to scout a specific player, however, it's a full and more precise scouting that should be closer to his real talents.

You can have 1 head scout and I think 5 other scouts. You can hire more by going to the Transactions menu option for your league, then Available Personnel tab, then pick Scouting skills on the popups. Right click the guy(s) you want and Offer Contract. You'll get a popup window that lets you offer a specific position, which must be empty (so if you want to replace your hitting coach, fire the old one first).

I've yet to see a coach refuse a job offer, so I think it's simply a matter of whether or not you want to pay that particular guy that much money for that long.

That is weird - I typically get a head scout that has 100 in scouting batters or pitchers (using the 1-100 scale) and I emphatically trust his evaluations. In fact, I only send 2 scouts - one for batters and one for pitchers.

A good way is to send three scouts and use the middle score.

Don't the scouts also have preferences though. I use the 2-8 scale, becasue I like it to be vague. But if you check preferences under their profile, the sliders (example for batters) is like favor avg or favor OBP. Does anyone know how this effects their scouting? Will a scout who favors average maybe underrate for eye or avoid K, and vice versa?
What you guys think?
