Being the General Manager of the Washington Senators
When I go to the Washington Senators personnel section, I am listed as their General Manager. The News says that I have just today been hired as the Senators GM. However, when I go to Manager home page, it says that I am Unemployed. Which is correct? And what do I do to get these three pages to agree? Am I in fact the General Manager of the Washington Senators or am I unemployed? I should add that I have not begun playing this league (the date is January 1), so I have definitely not been fired yet!
Any help will be much appreciated. CharlesC |

Try advancing just one day, to January 2, and see if that brings everything up to date. Does your game now say on the top right:
[Game Name] CharlesC (or whatever manager name you are using) Washington?

Does your game say on the top right:
[Game Name] CharlesC (or whatever manager name you are using) Washington? If so, then this should match the manager home page screen. It should not say "Act as: Washington" because then you are the commissioner just temporarily acting as the Washington GM but not actually hired by Washington. People often get this confused. Also, I have noticed that the manager identities in the game can get garbled if you do not add, edit, and delete them in a certain order. If things don't match on January 2, then perhaps go to Game, Select Human Manager, switch to "Joe Unknown" or some other identity if there is one. Then go to Game, Add General Manager, and delete your Washington manager identity. Go out and come back in to Add General Manager, then click Add another Manager. Edit this new "Joe Unknown" to be your manager identity and assign him the Washington job (Select Team). This should put things right, I think. If not, you may have a TechSupport item. Good luck.

Do you have more than one manager for that league? Are you sure that the one who is the Washington GM is the active manager? (Game | Select Human Manager is how you switch between them.)

OK, this message crossed mine. Try deleting and adding as I said above. You are definitely unemployed if the team name is not listed in the display, and you cannot immediately get yourself the Washington job except by choosing it when you create a manager identity.

Unless . . . CharlesC, it's possible to have more than one manager identity in the game with the same exact name. Did you by any chance switch the manager identity to another one with the same name that is unemployed? If so, follow treedom's instruction to select the manager that actually has the job.

Not working!
I deleted the old general manager. Now, in the upper right hand corner, only the game name appears. No GM, no team name. So, I went to add manager, and went to the select team drop down box, and the name of every major league team appears except Washington.
Just to let you know, Washington is still one of the major league teams, and its GM line in the personnel tab is now empty. Although there is no name, there is still an age for the blank GM listed, a 1 under experience and a dash under Salary and a dash underneath Through. Very frustrating. Thanks for the help. Charles |

Yes, it sounds like something is goofed up. The only other thing that I can think of is perhaps you inadvertently entered a blank manager name. See the screens below. The first one shows how I created a manager for the Austin Misfits with no name. The game will accept that. See the following two screens that seem to fit your descriptions in your last post. If it's that, find the blank manager (look for just the Washington Senators without a manager's name on the Add Manager screen) and delete him. He's the one preventing your new manager from being assigned the job.
Here are the first two screens:

Here's the last screen, which would not fit on the preceding post. It looks a bit like what you were describing.
On second thought, I doubt that this is it, however; you would have had to make this blank name manager after your news announcement and switched to it in the meantime. Well, if nobody else has any ideas, your best bet is either restarting your league or contacting Tech Support. Good luck, again.
