Where did the sound go?

I know this is a total noob question, but I've played OOTP 5, 6, and 6.5. I was in europe for a bit, but now I'm back and I immediately bought OOTPB2006. What happened to the sounds? Am I missing something?

If they were removed from the game, that's too bad. I love stat baseball and look of the new version is really great, but if it came at the cost of the flavor then I'm really saddened. I know this is a text sim, but I really thought the sounds in the game added to the flavor.

2006 was created w/ NO sound, it is possible that it will return in the future but due to being the primary cause of some crashes it was taken out atleast for now. No promises that it will return.

Well, that sucks then. That's really too bad. I certainly hope the sounds return in the next version. Is there an ETA for OOTPB2007? Any announcements about it's new or returning features?

There have been a couple of threads about this on the General Discussions board:

The Unofficial "When will new info on 2007 be released?" Poll

When do we start hearing stuff about the next game?

But the only official word on what 2007 may look like has been this one from the end of October, too soon to really be definite IMO:

A small update!

My guess is that the buzz should start next month if they want the release to be about the same time as the start of the baseball season.

Thanks! I've lurked here on and off for a while. (I bought a retail copy of "Season Ticket Baseball" way back when and I found out by digging around that it was a version of OOTPB.) I really do love the game and I'm looking forward to 2007!

Little did you know telefrog, but talking about sound/visuals usually leads to a border-line religious debate around here.

I agree with you though, I liked the sounds in 6.5. Sometimes, it's the small things in life (like sound effects) that make one happy

In lieu of sound I often fireup a game on MLB.tv to get me in the mood.
