Online league files = 132MB???

Is this right? I unchecked boxscores, gamelogs, news and scores for all my minors and the its still huge. Is the HTML site size suppose to be this large?

Ive read the first thread. The thing with that is that it pertains to the entire .lg folder. Im just asking about the actualy HTML files that are created for the league that are updated to the server. Ive looked through the folders and it seems like I have to keep everything, how else would the HTMl site work?

Does anyone know what the story is with this? Do people with online leagues really have to upload 132mb each time?

I removed Short Season Minors and Rookie ball and the file size dropped to around 88mb. Also, for some reason the game still generates coach HTML files even though I have coaches turned off.

I don't really see a problem with that. Broadband seems to be the way now, as the majority of people have it. Just like now more games are needing you to be at least 128MB RAM as opposed to 64 (and 32 before that) and some are even 256 and 512. Just how it is. More computers are being built to support those features, more graphics are needed in the game so you add more RAM. Same thing. More people are using high speed internet. If you had to choose, minimal reports to please the players without broadband, or detailed reports to please the players with broadband, it's just smarter business wise to go with the broadband group.

Besides, that's UPLOADING the reports, not viewing. And how many commissioners have dialup? Probably a very low percentage.

Sucks that I am in the minority

Hoping to get Sat internet in a couple weeks.

Now if you follow fidel's compressing uploading and uncompressing technique it really shortens the time spent uploading such that even dial-up folks can still commish a league.

Anyone with shell access on their webspace can zip the files and explode them on the site without his .php file.

I've been doing it for years.

dola

After every sim, you have to delete all the old files from the zip file before uploading it. Its not going to be near the size that you report.

Im getting that size on the very first time I created reports so there are no old files.

Part of what you have to understand about the reporting is that you're now essentially uploading all of the Cato files too, something people previously did only once a year, and which took a significant amount of space.

It's a trade-off. In return for larger numbers of files, you get a dynamic Cato that is accurate up to the last sim, rather than having the history updated only annually.

You also have to realize this game has much larger numbers of players, unless you are playing in a league that is exactly the same size as your OOTP 6 league (1 parent league, 3 minors). Plus, without ghost players there may even be more players in that scenario.

Anyway, just my 2 cents.

you don't want the html reports in the league zip file. The owners don't need most of those on their game.

This is why I asked for the htmls to be created outside the .lg folder. It makes no sense for them to be in there.

Well, I think with the improvement of Coaches and scouts, there is also a HUGE chunk aded to the scene, both in the HTML reports and the league file you have to share with league members. In any case, there are some trade offs. If one is willing to take them, they may be worth it. The "Online Universe" may continue to be a pipe dream because everyone knows that it will take some major disk space and major time to manage.

A good percentage of OOTP users have no idea what "shell" access means. Hopefully, there's some value in the little short-cut for those who don't.

No doubt. That's why I said, for those who don't, fidel's procedure works well.

There's another program out there called Putty that will do your method as well.
