How do you do your draft?

I've encountered a problem this season with the draft. I usually do it at the beginning of a Sim, where I give the GM's 2 days to get in their picks, after I finish the sim I import all the teams. Now here is where I hit a problem. When I imported the teams since I all these new drafted players arent on the imported team file, the damn game releases all the drafted players. It's a flaw in the game it seems so Im trying to figure out the best way to do this.

I allow GMs to only make a pick for the first round cause doing more than 1 round would take forever, so I give them all 2 days to get their picks in. As the picks are made in order I enter them into the game.

Anyways Im looking for a solution. 1 way I was thinking which seems annoying is to have the draft at the end of the sim. I upload the new league files, the GMs make their picks then I finish off that sim and I upload a new league file. Seems like a lot to do. There has to be a better way.

In the GDSL...(which is an 6.5 league but still applicable)...we assign GM's a time slot far in advance. I have never seen a draft run so smoothly. It took a week to get through 2 rounds. But...everyone knew ahead of time when there pick would come up, and could be online or submit list.

It was the smoothest draft I have ever seen in an online league.

Yeah I'm in another league that does that but that really isn't my issue. I'm looking to see how other GM's process the draft. When do they import teams? When do they draft? And so on.
