OOTP 5 Music/Sound
I know it's been mentioned that there will be ambient sound in OOTP 5... so I was just wondering, will the sound actually match the game when you are playing through a game... Like... the crack of the bat... the cheers of the crowd. Or will it be more 'white noise' like ... With just a constant, fairly unchanging sound going on in the background?
As for the music ... I think that's a pretty cool idea to have music playing while you go through the different screens of OOTP 5. I would hope "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" would be in there... Anyone else have any suggestions for classic baseball related songs that should be in OOTP 5? |

I always liked the kind of music BBPro '96 and '98 had. '96 had a mix between kinda country and some traditional baseball songs and '98 had some great background type music. Even though i can't play the games anymore, I sometimes play the music to relive the memories
Man, I didn't even like country and I liked the '96 music. |

I'm gonna straight out assume there is an option to shut off all sounds included.
Sounds and in game music will be a really good thing, but when you play and sim as much as I do, you need your own stuff sometimes. |

The in-game music feature sounds great. I wonder if there would be a way to customize the music OOTP5 would play during an actual game. Adding player intro music would be a great way to add to the realism of actually being at the ballpark. While I know the baseball traditionalists out there probably wouldn't be too pleased with snippets of AC/DC or JayZ playing during their games, I think the addition of customizable music would be a valuable feature to all the potential consumers out there.

I actually really hope that this feature is not included. One of the things I love about OOTP is the ability to play a CD, MP3, or Launch in the backround. If this is included, hopefully there will be a toggle switch.

But unless you're able to assign music to different functions, what would be the point when you can run the game in windowed mode? The only problem I can see would be if you have a really slow computer, and running the game and a media player simultaneously was impossible. But one would assume that music being played by the client would take up resources, as well. Otherwise, having two copies of the same MP3 on your hard drive would seem rather redundant. (Unless there's something I'm not considering.)

Well, you can toggle it off
This thing will include bat cracks, safe/out calls etc. And something that I cal... drum roll please... the CRS! Crowd Reaction System. Hehe, I had to invent some crap name for it Basically it tries to simulate the crowd reactions and noise level, depending on game situation and many other factors (play-offs, attendance, blow-outs, rallies etc.) |

So playing as the Expos would be pretty much like OOTP4?

My sound doesn't even work! Not that I'm happy about that...

That sounds cool ... I look forward to it ..
And I agree.. for the music it would be cool if there was a folder where you could put mp3's and OOTP 5 would automatically go sift through and play them. |

Thanks, Markus. I'm happy about the sound being added. The crowd reaction system will be a nice enhancement. It's also good to know that I can toggle it off when I want.

Any chance of my idea being added where you can choose a short mp3 (5-10 seconds or so) to be played the first time a hitter comes up to bat. You can have a currentbatter folder where you would store karros_eric.mp3 and then have whatever that is play when he comes up to bat for the first time. That would add a ton of character and individuality to each player imo.

sound
This is great because I used to play the crowd noise .wav files off of other baseball games while I was playing my OOtP sims. It didn’t raise or fall, but I would do it manually, pumping up the volume at the right time, or lowering it to simulate the pacified crowd.
