Fictional MLB Quickstart

FIRST DAY FICTIONAL MLB QUICKSTART **14.1 MB**
Alternate Link (think this is good for like 30 or so downloads OR one week)

What this has:
-MLB and all minor leagues
-Real team nicknames
-fictional player
-Correct minor league setup (there are errors in the default quickstarts)
-All major league logos and the majority of minor league logos (AAA, AA, and all levels of A should be there) ***all logos courtesty of OOTP member 'truthserum' - he's done a masterful job***

What this won't have:
-real MLB players (!!)
-any foreign leagues
-Every single logo
-MLB color schemes should be right, but I think all the minor league schemes are messed up

-I only messed with a few cosmetic things in the initial setup. Otherwise, just about everything is the default.

-To install unzip the Fictional MLB.quick folder into your data/quickstart_games directory with any other quickstarts you have

It took quite awhile to load the quickstart on my end, so be patient. Hopefully this will be useful up until something bigger and better comes along.

Note that when this quickstart gets situated that you'll start off with me as a manager in your game. I would think that there would be a way to delete managers, but I'm not seeing it. Am I missing something here?

Okay, here's what you need to do:

1. Go to Game, Add Manager and create your very own profile
2. Go to Game, Select Manager and select yourself
3. Go to Game, Add Manager and delete me from your mothatruckin game

I'm trying to use your quickstart. I can't delete your manger. I resigned him from the team, but the top menu still shows "IL" for international league..and he won't go away.

It's possible, trust me. You just have to do what I said in post #3. Add yourself as a manager, make sure you are the active manager, then go to the add manager interface and delete the unactive manager.

I'm having a problem when trying to download the file. It states that it cannot locate the file. Obviously others are able to so I am not sure what the problem could be?? I enter the 3 character code and I get the message. Any ideas??

Can you please enumerate what errors the original OOTP settings had with the minor league set up and what changes yuo have made to fix them?

I didn't log them, so unfortunately I'm just going off the top of my head. Like someone mentioned elsewhere Round Rock was giving a AAA team and a AA team (Corpus Christi should replace the AA team in the Texas League). That was the biggest one. Other than that, the only things I had to fix were some wrong division names (ie North instead of Eastern), abbreviations that made no sense, or a couple of teams were in the wrong divisions - nothing game-breaking. If I could do it over again I would've logged the errors and reported them.

Oh, in the New York-Penn League the Pickney Division has 6 teams, not the McNamara. I fixed that as well.

Not to get too detailed but some of the minor league cities are off base too. The Peoria Chiefs (Midwest League) are in Peoria, IL but the team is listed in Peoria, Arizona. The Iowa Cubs show up in a city called Iowa (in Washington, maybe) but should be Des Moines, Iowa. Since I found these two right away, I assume their are many more discrepancies. I know this isn't the fault of the quick start maker...they come like this in the normal quick start.

If I use this quickstart, can I go in and replace the players file with that from CubbyFan's 2006 rosters? Thus keeping everything you've got, but changing the ML level players to real players?

Yeah, that sucks. What sucks even more is that I never bothered to look at any city info when switching around teams like I did. I'll be looking into this and updating a new version (hopefully this afternoon). Thanks for the heads up.

Don't hold me too it, but I don't think that would be possible because the only way to get real players into the game is by opening up a different league/quickstart, right?

Well I'm thinking that if I go into the quickstart folder, and replace the players.dat file (or whatever it's called) with the file from Cubby's 2006 roster, I might get results. I'm not sure, I'll try it and post here whether it works.
