Ah, sorry. I don't think I have the latest set. I'm waiting for the finished version.

Just noticed you guys have 2 different roster sets. Is there any notable differences between the two?

Erich's are newer, have the minors rated better, fixed some minor league alignment issues, etc.

Is this the final release? Are the rosters fixed in that the minors dont dominate after 2 years? Thanks for all the work, rosters look great.

Well that is putting a lot of emphasis on a stat that is brand new and being tested out.
K, BB, and HR rates are brand new? News to me.

I guess the stats like OBA and ERA don't count anymore when seeing how good a player is.
Not really, no. They're pretty poor indicators. Especially compared to K%, BB%, HR%, and GB/FB ratio

What end date did you use for Crede V Beltre please as that could skew your results as you made your comments awhile ago and so did I and Crede has not played well in September, but maybe now ARod has better numbers.

You know these are not the stats I was talking about, I was talking about xFIP, because if you look at the numbers for Putz in the other categories he is beaten in bb/g and hr/g by the guys I was talking about so please try and look at a whole comment and not just pull out pieces to attempt to make someone look stupid, it just doesn't work.

How is GB/FB such a great indicator of pitcher quality? All it tells me is if the player needs great infielders or a larger stadium

I know you really want to look at the one year that he did well and think his potentials should be higher, but here is the reason that I think that is a bad idea, because that will lead to him becoming that good and possibly/probably doing that every year in the game. He is not likely to do that again and with the ratings set up the way they are, there is a chance he could have a season like that if everything fell in just so in the game, which is what had to happen that year. I am sorry that we disagree so much on this but I think you will see that outside of Seattle fans you are generally going to see that most people will favor my side of the arguement with regard to Mr. Beltre.

Good luck with your internship at ESPN as it says in your profile. If you are actually there doing an internship( and I have no reason to doubt it) why don't you go ask some of the guys there what they think of Beltre and how he should be rated. Go see if they think it was a chemically enhanced year.

I would be interested to hear the responses.

So since you know so much Random, where can I download your "Perfect roster" at?

I have the same issue. Anyone know to fix it so the other 29 teams make moves.

Go to the game setup tab. Go down to the bottom and pick the pull up menu, I think it's called "action". Select, allow AI teams to make roster moves.

Hey Erich, why is Erik Bedard rated so low? He had a run of about 10 starts where he was the best pitcher in the majors, better than even Santana. Also, if you eliminate his ugly 1-7 stretch, his ERA is under 3 and he's 14-3 on the season. I know pitchers are generally lower rated, but Bedard is among the best in the game and severely underrated. If you decide that he's not worthy of a higher rating, then at least raise his potential. He's still developing! Also, Nick Markakis should be rated higher than Melky Cabrera.

EDIT: Never mind the Markakis part. I verified it and he is in fact rated higher than Cabrera.

I just started a new league as Yankee GM and the first series is against the As. Here are my questions as it relates to the ratings of some Yankee players:
  • Sheffield (75) & Giambi (78) are both rated with less power than Frank Thomas (84). Currently Giambi is outslugging Thomas in HRs and SLG% and even recent trends suggest Giambi's power stroke is at LEAST equal to Thomas. And personally I just feel like Sheff's power should be higher due to his HR production over the past 3 years.
  • Cano's ratings are higher than his potential in every offensive catagory. Does that sound fishy to anyone but me? Is that suggesting that he will cool off and become a completely average ballplayer?
I suppose that's all for now though there are some other minor numbers I feel like I could quibble about. Yes, I know I can just change them if I want, but for some reason I feel like I need buy-in on these things to keep a sort-of level playing field. Go on and bash the Yankees bottomless payroll all you want. I just want to give the players ratings that reflect who they are (as all simmers would want to do).
Opinions? Let me clarify that: creative opinions on the ratings of the players mentioned?

I noticed this too. The Yankees players, Cano and others were all rated well below where they'd be in real life.

And I'm a Blue Jays fan.
