Staff Photos

I'm still plugging away, between various projects, collecting Staff Photos for use in the game, but it's an arduous process. I would love to stumble on some corporate site with a zip file of photos of their 2000+ executives or even an archive of their last 10 year's softball teams. But it isn't going to happen.

I've Googled (Image) coaches, staff, personnel, etc... and seldom find more than 2-3 pics on a single page. In addition some of those will have to be converted and resized. I think I've past the 300 mark now, but my personal goal (given the league sizes I've seen being selected) is to acquire about 10 times that number minimum.

I'll keep you posted when it gets large enough to be of any interest to anyone. On the other hand, please keep me posted if you encounter any site that has a great deal of "Staff-looking" faces by any other name or word search so I can add those as well.

Thanks in advance. And btw, I posted this in another thread (I think it was another thread) but FYI: if you're using the player_# method in your folders, you're staff is created first -- then your players. So if you plan to separate 'types' eventually remember that if you have 900 personnel slots open they will be filled by player_(1-900) and then your player #s will be assigned to players themselves. (I know, long-term stuff - but worth it when you finally get that league you're going to keep).

I applaud the effort!

Here are some sites I stumbled upon:

http://www.ic.sunysb.edu/Clubs/nels/...n/FAC2005.html

Some google searches:
http://images.google.ca/images?hl=en...ch&sa=N&tab=wi
http://images.google.ca/images?svnum...or&btnG=Search

As well, I have a ZIP file containing 91 staff photos from the game Tournament Dreams College Basketball. Unfortunately, these photos are only 50 x 72 pixels, so they will look pretty bad if enlarged.

Oh man, thanks LH. I know your project is ultimately going to be the all to end all for this arena, but as long as there are traditionalists - I'd like to have a mainstay available to assist...my game if no one elses.

Thanks again for the tips. Greatly appreciated.

Talking

Within my avatar the one on the left is my team doctor and the one on the right is my GM. I'll have no trouble signing free agents.

pat has been generous enough to contribute his time to collecting additional photos for the staff series of pics and I think we've accumulated a diverse and relevant assortment for use in the game.

Question. My original target number for these was based on a typical user's steeper individual league, i.e. parent league of 32 teams with 6 deep minor league affiliations with app. 11 or less pics per team. That was 2464 pics in that scenario. Between us, we've reach 2674 pics. In cases where you might need more, you can always 'go looking' or simply reverse the player_# order of this set, effectively giving you double that if the need arises.

Would all of you consider that a sufficient quanitity to utilize in your particular setting/s?

And that's your 3,000th post.

Well, I'm just glad I could help. I could add more since the ones I got in the NFL is still short of NFC teams. Just let me know.

(I would have finished the NFL, if not the release of the demo. I'm familiarizing myself for hours.)

Well, I've uploaded the file for hosting. Just waiting to see where it actually ends up and I'll provide an address for downloading. Thanks again for your help on this, pat!

All right. Let's see if I've done this right. Try this link for the Staff Photos:

http://www.sadleague.allsimbaseball....ages/staff.zip

Please let me know if it works or doesn't, as well as how the collection turned out.

The set's integrity has proven good. However, I plan to post a bug in the Tech Support area indicating, unless someone can explain otherwise, that IDs are being shared by personnel and players according to the csv files.

So the caveat to separate personnel may not be as tried and true as I had originally thought, or had worked previously. More later.

I think that the reason that the coached and players share IDs is because of the way that the retired player-to-coaches function works. Haven't figured a work around yet though.

I don't recall (I may be mistaken though) that this was a problem prior to adjustments made over the last couple of versions/fixes/patches. But this is where it currently stands and holds the fictional player up temporarily.

REPORTED TO TT

Future histories, when they are implemented will be affected. But this puts a crunch on the fictional player trying to complete his league without renaming, at least, all the coach photos to the name format. I have to remember if this is easily done or not. As you can see above, the issue has been reported. Hopefully there will be an easy fix. In the meantime, I'm working on a workaround. Using ctorg's Unique Image system formulas along with Irfanview, it looks like I'm able to rename all of the coaches to name format. Now, the trouble is that the names don't carry over all the little tildes and odd characters into the name file. I don't know if this will affect anything or not. Home very briefly, just to write this note.

Will check out more later tonight and hopefully arrive at a good workaround.

You may have them already but nhl.com and nfl.com have good pics of coaches/doctors/management if you look under each teams site.
Also nba.com and of course mlb.com
just using these sites should give you around 1000 pics
