Anyone know the exact format, and what folder they go in?

This is rapidly becoming an FAQ and should be stickied. This is the folder: -

\data\saved games\MYLEAGUE.LG\news\html\images

This is the format:

firstname_lastname.jpg (or .png) OR player_#.jpg (or png)

name will be given preference over # if both exist in the same folder.

Additional note on Coaches/Staff/Manager photos:

Personnel are created and assigned first. Therefore, if you use the number-oriented system your beginning series should be staff pics if you are utilizing them, followed by the players' sequence.

Has anybody created a set of correctly named fictional player photos for download yet?

I'm in the process of renaming WW's set to player_xxxxx format. So far, I'm done to 1909.

I take it you're comparing a dump and then making a manual adjustment to the file name for each player once you've ID'd the ID?

Heck, no. This is a fictional universe, and I'm dealing with 12,000 photos. Batch sequential renaming into one folder is all. I don't care if Mark_Wilson gets assigned to Mark Wilson. Hell, I've got Japanese players in my 1910 ML-level league. I'm not that particular. I don't even think I have a Mark Wilson ...

But when I'm done, I'll have WW's set usable for any fictional league whose owner doesn't care if he has a sepia-toned photo for a 2020 rookie, like me ...

who knows? I've asked that same question and nobody has answered that for me yet. Maybe Markus doesn't even know.

can I just downlaod a fictional facepack and dump it into my .lg images folder and get results? or do I have to name or number each player in the league?

Unfortunately (but necessarily) OOTP changed both the naming convention for pics and type of pic generally required. Generally, people will be using the .jpg format for photos whereas .bmp was the most common in previous editions.

Most of the old facepacks were in p###.bmp format, so there is a two stage process for these (converting to .jpg format and converting to Player_#### naming). With the great (free) utilities available now, I converted about 6000 pics last night in about two hours.

If you already have .jpg pics, you can just rename them to the Player_### format and send them to the appropriate folder and they will work fine.

Mengele died on a beach in South America, P-a-u-l -W-o-l-f-o-w-i-t-z and Donald Rumsfeld still have paying jobs and, oh yeah, the Baltimore Orioles have to play baseball in the same division with the Red Sox and Yankees. So...

IrfanView can handle both steps at the same time - in the Batch Conversion screen, you can choose "Batch conversion - Rename result files", and specify "Player_####" as the name pattern - you can even change the starting index, so that the renamed files can start at Player_0250.jpg, if you want.

Thanks. I did not realize that the IrfanView renaming utility was so robust! I shouldn't be surprised, though, as it converted 6000 bitmaps to jpegs in about a minute. The longest part of the process was actually unzipping the various files and moving them to the correct location.

Btw, your NCAA facepack is a treasure for adding fictional players. Thank you for the work on that one!

Speaking of starting the numbering of player photos at an arbitrary point, I made the mistake of starting from Player_1.jpg when loading fictional players. Since I imported 2005 players, I realized that I could look up the loaded players IDs and start at a much later number!
