gotcha, then no hard feelings because I do have respect for what you have done and are doing. I just happen to think your partner is scum. I probably wouldn't even have attempted this and just offered you the chance to see the resources that I have that I doubt you'd otherwise see if it wasn't for him

Whatever your reasons are, it's great that you are taking the time out to build a roster set. Look forward to seeing the set you come up with. If you need help overating any of the Cubs, feel free to ask me.

If you're going to throw out an unneeded statement such as this, why don't you name the set you're referring to? C'mon...if you're gonna talk crap about people at least be man about it and name who you're talking about.

LOL!!! Funny...you're the one who started with those slams.

My guess is this project will be a bona fide hack job. Should be fun to watch.

Well it wasn't you Gforce so no need for you to worry.
it was aimed at one person with a GOd complex that knows exactly who he is. but I disagree and say anyone that wants to attempt the work should be able too

Gotta love when people think they know about what the work consists of before seeing it or even knowing what resources are involved in the research..
but thanks for stopping by

Again...why be vague? Stop the passive aggressive B.S., kid, and man up. Call him out.

The biggest resource is the creator...and the creator here inspires zero confidence in quality work by virtue of his bush league antics.

But since you want to discuss resources, can you talk about your ratings system? How are you formulating them? The biggest reason people always had so much confidence in TotalMinors was that I laid out there exactly how I was doing things, posting sample ratings, etc and explaining how I came up with them.

So let me hear some of those details. I'm very curious as to your methodology.

I'm looking forward to your work oz. The greatest thing about free enterprise is competition. I believe the more ppl we have working on roster projects, the better rosters we'll see. Right now, I think we all just want to see one completed.

I alway try out a roster set when I'm aware its out. The last really good one, of course just IMO, was Total Minors. I stuck with that solo league for a very long time and I was pleased with the depth, realism, and the stats. Hell, if I still had a copy of it I would probably download the free version of OOTP 5....import it through OOTP 6.x and then import it into OOTP 2006. I pretty much always compare a roster set to Total Minors or the set Rolen had for OOTP3 (I can't remember the name....I was a newb back then).

I wish anyone luck who is taking the time to create a roster set....the quality bar has been set pretty high though for me.

First, thanks for the compliment. Second, I may be able to help you with that prior TotalMinors version. Need to check my hard drive when I get home.

So since Erich is making the opening day set....

Here's my thinking, maybe I should just do one that would be current as of the release date? what do you all think? that way you would have all the signed draft picks on their correct teams....

I'd be down for that. It's getting a little late for an opening day set now. We already have the amateur draft down and the trade deadline will make some crazy rosters soon.

I don't think there's much point making a current roster set, for as soon as it is released, it is out of date, due to the fast-moving nature of MLB transactions. Also, the state of the rosters as it is reflect each team's standings, so unless you make a quickstart starting on the day your roster set is released with correct current season stats for each player and win-loss records (note, this is impossible), you wouldn't have a 'current' set.

An opening day set enables each player to GM his/her team as they want from Opening Day, not being forced to stand by the real-life decisions of the future.

Not that I am defending my choice to do an Opening Day set but last time I checked when is it that you will be starting your season when you get the rosters? Will it be as of June 30th or will you start with April 1? Just a question and not to start a problem, I am glad that Ozzie is doing it later in the season and in no way am I questioning it as I know that many people want it that way. Not everyone is like me in wanting to start at Opening Day and see how things transpire, if for some reason the Tigers don't jump out to a 50-25 record and so on.

I know that people like to have things up to date for online leagues as well. I think this is great that he is doing it this way as it will give people the choice right away as to when they want their roster set to be starting from.

Stoney I dub thee a disciple of my thought process.

Yeah it is too bad that our first go around with rosters turned out to be such a hassle for both of time wise. Maybe in the future we will work together again, but if not at least we still have the same vision

Here's my 2 pennies...

It is a mistake to not make it an Opening Day set and I could live without ozzie being a jagoff about the other project. Seems to be a lot of chest pounding going on, in this thread.

Well I'll start April 1. But depending on when everyone's rosters come out, the league could look completely different than it does on the opening day roster set. Teams can look completely different on August 1 than they do on April 1. Not to mention ratings, lineups, and pitching rotations.

It's nothing against your decision and I know the majority want it to be opening day. I just like having another option available. To me, the farther from opening day things get, the less realistic the roster set gets to me.
