More Serie Nacional de Beisbol info

Ok, first thing is a small one. Instead of Group A, B, etc.. just change "Group" to "Grupo" on all of them.

Next, if you are basing the league off the standard one that is given to us by SI, then you have Industriales and Habana (the two Havana teams in Group 2) switched in their spots on the "Names and Affiliations" page in the league setup. Not sure, but this may cause some importing/exporting issues with rosters/stadiums etc. if people try and import a roster set into the league.

The team names need a little reworking too. The "Havana Lions" team name should be Industriales as that is what they are known as by everyone (it would be like calling Notre Dame "South Bend") and thier logo even has a script letter "I" in it, then change the Abbreviation to IND.

Also, the more spanish spelling for the Havana Cowboys team name is La Habana, not Havana and the corresponding abbr. is HAB.

The other one that doesn't have the "official" nickname of the SNB is Ciego de Avila, which is actually CAV not CAB as is in the file. This site shows the official abbr. that are used by the SNB - http://www.inder.co.cu/indernet/comp...disticas90.htm

Below is the spanish nicknames for each of the teams. The format is abbreviation - nickname. The abbreviations I used are assuming that you made the changes I suggested in the above paragraph so the abbreviations correspond with the "official" abbreviations and that you switched Industriales and La Habana in Grupo B.

Grupo A
IJV - Toronjeros
MTZ - Cocodrilos
MET - Guerreros
PRI - Vegueros

Grupo B
CFG - Camaroneros
HAB - Vaqueros
IND - Leones
SSP - Gallos

Grupo C
CMG - Alfareros
CAV - Tigres
LTU - Magos
VCL - Naranjas

Grupo D
GRA - Alanzes
GTM - Indios
HOL - Sabuesos
SCU - Avispas

I love all the feedback, me and ozzie are working hard to put together an accurate template that will work, and is to everyone liking. Keep the feedback coming and we'll keep the updates coming.

Sorry

Go into the league setup menu after you create the league and say release all players, then go to the transaction screen and say delete all free agents. Sorry it took so long to respond

BTW here were the financial settings I had for the Cuban League:

Average Attendence per Game: 6610 (Sampled 10 days worth of games 3 in the beginning, 4 in the middle, 3 in the end and took the average for this quick estimate)
Average Ticket Price: As low as possible ($1 - Current)
Financial System: Either (No strong feelings can be disabled)
Minimum Service Years for Free Agency: No Free Agency
Free Agents from other Leagues can be Signed: Disabled
Minimum Service Years for Salary Arbitration: No Arbitration
Average Media Contract: $0
Media Contract Fixed: Yes
Salary Cap: $0
Team Owner controls Budget? Yes
Revenue Sharing: No
Average Coach: 3500
Minimum Player: 1825
Superstar: 3650
Star: 3415
Good: 3180
Above Average: 2945
Average: 2710
Below Average: 2485
Fair: 2150
Poor: 1825

The salaries come from the typically daily wages reported in various internet articles of the day jobs for Cuban ballplayers.

Thanks Scott, the financials are one thing I wasn't sure about in the league. Can I ask what various sources you used? I am always trying to find out more info about the Cuban league and they sound like useful articles.

inside your data folder there will be a world_templates folder if you've created any in the game yet. or you may have to make the folder yourself if this is your first template

Cool Awesome Template, but having trouble getting it to work.

OK, I downloaded the world template number 2 tonight and have gotten 2 scheduling errors when trying to create my universe. Went back found the two league with the odd number of games scheduled in each and made them even. Restarted my universe and it just stopped at 93% (creating schedules) I am not sure what is wrong. Do I need to go into any leagues and make adjustments? Any help would be awesome. Thank you very much. The Goblin

I really like the NCAA idea- and though it might not work perfectly- I had a couple ideas for making it a little more realistic- no offense meant- if you don't agree- no big deal:

First, if it hasn't already been mentioned- "Free agents may leave this league"- needs to be checked- and either 3 or 4 years needs to be the minimum service years depending on whether you want juniors to be eligible. This might be a bit unrealistic- but I think it would also reduce the number of 5 and 6 year guys in the league.

2nd, with a roster of 30- and assuming a full 4 year stay for each player- the draft should really be 7 or 8 players (with an average of 7.5 guys leaving every year) to ensure you have enough players.

3rd, I think placing the league as an A ball equivalent is actually correct- but maybe making this league a Rookie type league would generate younger players...perhaps not- and maybe you've already looked into it- just an idea.

4th, I wonder if setting the player salaries even lower- like $500- instead of $5000- would ensure guys don't overstay their welcome. Again, maybe you've looked into it already- but worth mentioning.

I LOVE this idea -and think the major turnoffs are obviously 30 year old college players- and guys with 8 years of college eligibilty....Just thought that maybe the above might help make things more realistic- and maybe Markus can look into implenting this next year...

Just various articles I dug up while doing searches. I believe this one was either from PBS or MLB.

More or less I culled what I could and estimated the rest.

For example a line I grabbed:

Quote:
Many Cuban baseball stars make less than $2,000 annually, or one half of one percent of the average New York Yankee's salary.
