Another noob question - NCAA

Did anyone ever figure out how to adjust the rate of aging so player careers only last 3-4 years, sort of like a college career? I've experimented and still players have had long careers...

I think doing an NCAA league will be difficult since I dont think you can adjust aging modifiers to shorten their career to four years. The only thing you might try is run other leagues along side your NCAA that will provide financial incentive for your players to leave after four years. Also, set free agency to four years.

I've been toying with ideas to accomplish the same thing. and I have thought to try Free agency set at 4 yrs. make all average salaries real real low. and then have another league where the players can sign after that

Just did a quick test:

set up an MLB with full minors,

set your NCAA as a rookie league to keep ages down,

go through your rosters before the season starts and release any player over 24 or 25.

set free agency to 4 years

make sure free agents can leave the league but not join

Edit: Also make sure you keep financials VERY low for the NCAA league.

a little work and you should be able to do it but you'll have to go over everyone's rosters to get rid of older players every year.

I found that setting all contracts to 0 across the board PLUS having a salary cap of $1 does this VERY well

wouldn't it be easier if they added an option for minimum/ maximum age for a league?

Yes it would be useful. Don't know if this is planned for 2007.

Don't forget that Markus added a manual retirement feature to the final patch. So you could simply retire all players who have played four full seasons in your league.

You could start by setting your league for rookie ball, but don't forget that you can create free agents in the future by going to the transactions screen. You can create players who are very young and raw or young and slightly established.

But generally this game is not at all set up for doing a college league right now. I wouldn't even have the patience to try it, because there is no way it can really be done properly.
