Have a question with importing teams, Please help!

Currently, i am working on a League using World Series teams from each season in the 80's 90's and 00' and i was wondering what stats would be the most accurate. I am currently using the Arod23Garlon database, and lets just say for example, I want to start with the year 1986 to get the Redsox and the Mets. When setting up the year, should i check off the box, "that includes that years stats" and start the season in 1987, or leave it uncheck and start the season in 1986. I am just looking for accurate numbers for the 1986 season alone, and was wondering if checking that box would change anything. I have tried exporting the rosters useing both ways, and the numbers are slightly tweeked, granted not a whole lot. I was just looking for a second opinion before i get really involved with it then have to start all over.
