Foz College Template V2 Thread

This is 12 College Conferences, picked for overall talent, and in a couple of cases, for geographic location. It's attached to Icy's quick start as a feeder league.

It's broken down as follows:

Western College League (52 Teams)
Big 12 (10)
Pac10 (9)
Big West (9)
WAC (7)
Conference USA (9)
West Coast (8)

Eastern College League (60 Teams)
SEC (12)
ACC (12)
Big East (12)
Big 10 (10)
Patriot League (6)
America East (7 teams +)

To Balance Out The East, Boston University was added to the America East

The 6 Division winners plus Two Wild Cards from each league make a 16 team playoff. First two rounds are best of 3, last two rounds are Best of Five.

Change Log
V2.01 All teams Added
V2.02 Cities Confirmed, started on Basic Uniforms
V2.03 Various (small) edits
V2.04 Uniforms and Colors assigned up through Maryland-Baltimore County
v2.05 Fixed a couple Graphical Errors and two typos in team names
V2.06 Initial Release *CURRENT RELEASE VERSION*
V2.07 Some small changes suggested per Prodigal Son (conference names, etcetera)

Current Status: All 112 teams have Colors, Cities and Nicknames correct.

Thanks to ncaa-baseball.com for listing of teams, Wikipedia for colors (and links to the athletics sites when colors were not apparent), and all the folks who've downloaded my files and offered advice, support or sympathy.

Also, a huge thank you to Icy for his MLB/Minors template. Couldn't have done it without you.

I ask that if you use my work in a release of your own, Just mention me as I have mentioned the folks who made this possible (I can't do anything if you don't, but it's only polite)

Thanks again!

David Yellope (2:43 AM EDT, 3/31/07)

Notes:

A) This is be a Template release, not a full roster release.
B) Teams are not be balanced as in real life

Update: I have started to assign colors to the various teams, per their sites and a HTML Color code chart I've found.

Thanks for the encouragement, Kane and Nomar

I'm about halfway through the uniforms. The one thing I may not be able to get in this next version is Logos (although if someone wants to do that part, I would be very grateful )

I'm really looking forward to this! One step closer to a full universe in a box. Just need a HS feeder league added to Icy's file after this!

High School League.. Aieeeeeee!!!

I might do one at some point, but it's not gonna be anywhere close to realistic. My eyes are straining big time doing over 100+ Team Colors right now

The way I set up a HS feeder when I made my first league was to simply have fifty teams, each named "[State] All-Stars." So it was really more of an AAU-type of league, where theoretically the best players from each state were all playing each others' teams.

Of course, fifty HS feeder teams wouldn't be enough for a larger major league setup. I had ten teams.

BTW, when are you planning to have this done? I'm debating on waiting for it before I start another league.

Would.. 2 hours be soon enough?

I'm in the home stretch on this (up to South Florida alphabetically), and hopefully finish it before I go to bed (even though it's 2 AM here, I'm a night owl)

I'm a night owl too. Two hours would be awesome. I suppose I'll put that new door knob and deadbolt in the front door and wash my golf clubs to waste some time...

About to post it, but let me know if I should keep the first version available as well or if I should delete it...

Rock on!

Template loaded fine. I'm excited to get a league going with this. I'm going to set up a HS feeder league too and give this a go over the next day or two.

Minor things I noticed in league setup:

-Consider renaming the league from "NCAA College" to "NCAA Baseball." The manual recommends including "Baseball" in the league title, and the game will already say "COL" eveywhere by the league designation because it's the level of play.

-"Big 10" should be "Big Ten." "Big 12" is correct, though. Go figure, eh?

-You could consider renaming the awards. I'm guessing the NCAA has names for them, but I'm not a huge college baseball fan and couldn't tell you what they are.

-I think that most NCAA teams don't use a 5-man rotation, which is what you have as a setting. I want to say it's more like a 3-man or 4-man. Someone who knows more will chime in.

Looks great though! I'll let ya know how it plays if I ever get done with the "Honey Do" list this weekend and get a chance to play.

Thanks so much for all of your work!

One question: How do I load real players? I have the Lahman and another database, but everytime I try to import those rosters, I receive an error message.

Any ideas?

Um.. Delete it I guess.

Not too many people probably want to play a 294 team college league if the players aren't going pro

Acutally, this might be a problem...And I HOPE it's just me. But I've noticed when you create a feeder league it HAS to be created in association with an MLB league- and that when loaded into a new universe- it will STAY associated with that MLB league...If you try to delete the default league after loading into ICY's template- the feeder leagues no longer are feeder leagues- just default HS and COL leagues...If you try and create JUST a feeder league template with NO MLB associated with it- then, again- they just become default HS and college leagues...This sucks...Am I missing something?????

This is why I had to retype/redo everything from version 1 to version 2 (fingers hurt just thinking about it).

With Markus taking a REALLY deserved break, I don't want to push it, but hopefully somewhere down the road in one of the patches, you will be able to attach leagues to other leagues after creation.
