Random Chaos Mod Request...

Some of you may remember the modified version of Ankit's database that had random debut years for MLB players starting in 1901. I've tried to import that into this year's game to play around with history. The old database gives me an error when trying to import from it. So I'm wondering if any modders out there would be able to do something like this with maybe Gambo's database or the standard Lahman database? (I'd prefer Gambo's) Debut years would have to be changed and birthdates would have to be adjusted accordingly. I'm sure there are programs that would allow this to be done relatively easily but I have very little experience in this field.

I had trouble with it as well, and I'm certain there are many others on the boards who would love to run a historical replay with random players using the amazing depth that OOTP2007 has available.

Ankit made some way back when (in OOTP 4 or 5) that I used for my Random Chaos dynasty, and I know someone made a couple different random databases a while back for OOTP6 as well, but I can't recall what program they used.

If I knew how to do so, I would....so if anyone wants to show me, I'd be glad to create a plethora of different databases.

In addition to the random database, here are a few of the ideas I've had:
  • An alphabetical database, where the players debut in alphabetical order...starting with the early A's in 1901 (Hank Aaron, Don Aase), etc...
  • A reverse database - Players who debuted in 2006 would debut in 1901, 2005 debuts would show up in 1902, etc...
  • Databases that debut in ascending or descending order of career hits...batting average...OPS...whatever you can think of

I could play for decades with that variety of options

By "they", who do you mean? And are they working on just one database or multiple?

By "they" I mean the two guys who make that DB, I believe it's two of them.

Its Arod23/Garlon teAM, but the random DB is just Arod's I believe.

Here's a link to it, but it is a career average and may not work in 2007:

I don't think anything based off earlier versions of Lahman work

Mild success...

I did some cutting and pasting from the modified database into Gambo's database and simmed about 3 years with pretty decent results. I'm sure this method has to be flawed but I'm not sure where or when the flaw will hit. I'm going to play around with it some more and see what happens.

In this thread, bd3 posted a database with instructions for making random debut years for players. It used Access and Excel. It worked for me for OOTP 6.5. Haven't tried it for OOTP 2007.

Ok, so I don't have MS Access, nor do I know how to use it. Isn't there anyone out there who wants this type of database who knows how to do it?
