Importing a roster set into the game

So I just went out and bought the game last night, and everything looks great. The thing is I am not really interested in playing with fictional players in my league and I want to import a 2006 or even 07 set. How do I do this?

Is it the same as previous games? (i.e. OOTP 6.5)

Is the process similar to the one that is stickied? That seems pretty complicated.

Anyone help me out here? It'd be appreciated. Thanks.

It depends on how the roster set is released.
For Example: I've seen some roster sets released as .lg files and that is as simple as dropping it in the saved_games folder. If it's released as a quickstart, then you load it as a quickstart from the main OOTP screen.

I think the easiest for you would be to just get the lahman database (ver 5.4, CSV or comma-delimited version) and unzip it to "C:\Stats". Then, when you create your league, if you use the historical wizard you just point the game to the master.csv file that will be unzipped to C:\Stats.

If you do this, you'll have to start at 2006 or sooner, however. Just an FYI!

If this is your kind of thing try the following link, it was one of the first things I've tried to do in the game and now I'm hooked.

Getting ready to make history

I will say that this game can be as deep or as shallow as you want it to be! It reminds me of what Morpheus said to Neo about the rabbit hole!!
