The moral of the story is -
"OOTP without real rosters (from day one) makes for a real dusty unused spot on the hard drive." QUICK EDIT - and yes it is a FICTIONAL game but honestly, how many people really look forward to it as such? Last edited by mattkma : 06-17-2007 at 07:50 PM. |

I used to think so too. And since April I've been going mad without real rosters. Then I finally tried a fictional set and LOVED it...and am loving it. I started with the 16-team quickstart OOTP comes with and took over the Dallas Jets. Man, I'm having a blast. It feels more like they're your players than the real rosters do. Just stick with it and I think you'll come around. I used to hate the idea of fictional rosters.

Hopefully we'll pull together next year.
Of course I say that every year, hence me being a Cubs fan. Hmmm. ![]() I can say that our first release will be out this week, how's that? I think prospects should be done tomorrow, and we'll probably try to brush up as much of the birthdates as possible before the file goes to hb for transactions.I'm considering fixing the birthdates for MLB only for the first release so that you guys can have it quicker. Would anyone be opposed? Perhaps we could get in some good testing on what the player creation modifiers should be (since the ratings are lower for players already made than what the game generates usually I believe) and league totals and such. |

Great news!! I wouldnt be opposed to releasing it with only correct MLB birthdates. Also, definately get some testing in so guys that should suck arent leading the league in statistical categories.

PETCOTA is really on for some guys (the stat projection system I base ratings on) but can really fall in love with some guys and overinflate ratings (Kelly Johnson comes to mind). Some of those guys obviously will have to get changed. |

If that's the case, we could all technically split up a file and knock it out much quicker. I'm not sure if it's an exportable/importable function though. |

Yeah that would be the quickest way to edit those. You could probably do it in one shot if they are all 1 year off. You would just need to copy the birthdates to a new sheet, set them in a particular format and possibly run a function to increase them by one year. If that doesn't work, I can handle the grunt work of manually changing them
. But that would be much quicker than doing them in the game. With 3 or 4 men working on this (assuming the function solution doesn't work) these could be knocked out in 2-3 days max. |

The North American Baseball Alliance (link in signature) will be using your set and I would like to test to see how the game handles the draft size long term.

I'd be happy to offer my assistance, but I'm already working on popularity and the other info I mentioned above. Still, let me know if you need any help.Last edited by Muzamba : 06-17-2007 at 11:14 PM. |

A few of the teams I did had maybe 60% of the players off by one year - the rest were correct. I didn't see any sort of pattern so the only way to know which guys need to be changed is to look each one up and compare it to the in-game birthdate. It's a bit time consuming. If it could be done in Excel it would probably be faster but it would still take time to look up each player. |
