NPB (Japan) Full Roster Set, Version 1.0

Hi,

The newest and final version of the NPB Roster set is now available. Download link here:

NPB Roster Set, Version 1.1 FINAL

Contents are listed below:

1. All players in both NPB and ni-gun (Japanese AAA) clubs around opening day, including new foreign players and draft picks for 2007. Player ratings were generated based on the MLB equivalencies for each player (see Japanese roster/historical database project for more info), with some basic park adjustments included. The ratings are based on MLB equivalencies so that this league can be merged into an MLB league (and I hope to do that in a future release).

2. A full statistical history for most players that have played in NPB since 1937, including past Japan Series, MVP, Rookie of the Year, Hall of Famers, as well as some Gold Glove and Sawamura Award winners.

3. Team colors, logos, and faces.

5. Accurate ballpark dimensions for NPB and ni-gun stadia, ballpark pictures for most NPB stadia (in the ballparks folder, it may need to be imported into the data/ballparks folder in your install), and estimated park factors (based on Jim Allen's Japanese baseball guide from 94-96) for NPB parks.

6. Accurate player and manager salaries (from japanesebaseball.com), as well as somewhat accurate financials for each team.

7. NPB roster and gameplay settings, as best possible. One thing to note is that the NPB playoff system (2nd and 3rd place team in league play 3-game series, meet 1st place team in league in 5-game LCS) is not possible in OOTP, so feel free to change this accordingly.

What it doesn't have yet:

1. An accurate 2007 schedule.
2. Accurate staff, other than manager.
3. Contract length for players.
4. Feeder leagues (HS, college, and industrial)
5. Independent leagues such as the Shikoku and Hokushinetsu leagues

I may add these at some time in the future. In the meantime, if anyone wants to assist or has any corrections, feel free to PM me, as I'd love to make this release better.

*****

Many thanks go to the following for making this release possible:

http://www.japanesebaseball.com for the database from which much of this comes from and to Vadim for the facepack and information.

This is awesome man... I was wondering if you'd allow Cubby and I to add this to our MLB set... We were going to do the Japanese leagues ourselves but since you're already done I thought maybe we could combine the two.. I imagine its what most people are gonna do to have one bigger universe. PM me if you're interested.

Awesome, I can't wait to get home from work *g* to download it.
Thanks for the work man.

And I support haveband's request, it would be really great to combine these two big efforts. The more leagues the better.

I have no problems with anyone adding this to their release. However, note that this release isn't perfect (e.g. OF positions, exact positions of 2007 draft picks, prospect ratings are based on draft place and minimal information), so hopefully others that know more about Japanese baseball can help fix it to make for a more accurate future release.

I believe you can d/l the league file, start it up in OOTP and create a template there. It is in the game settings. Good luck and let us know if this works.

Thank You Myasu,
I now have all but the following 5 pics...

Marines:
RP-Kosuke Kato
RP-Kengo Hayashida

Carp:
SP-Michito Miyazaki

BayStars:
RP-Yukihiro Yoshida

I'm not sure how to send this file to anyone but anyone who wants these pics is more than welcome to get it just let me know and once again Thank You Myasu and of course a special thanks to Murmur13 for all your hard work bringing us this awesome file.

Special Note: I noticed that several Birthdates seemed to be off by a year and any name that was misspelled I left them alone so the pics would show up the same as the file.

Hi,

I've got a facepack that was made by blackrussian that has faces for the CL and PL. They have over 800 faces, including minor leaguers, for both CL and PL. Here are the links:

Central League Facepack

Pacific League Facepack

Also, I'm working on a version 1.1. of the league file, to basically clean up and tweak a few things that I've noticed are incorrect. IF anyone who is using this league file has noticed any errors (positions, ratings, etc.), let me know so that I can incorporate it into the next version. The goal is to get it done s.t. version 1.1. can be combined with the upcoming MLB releases by CubbyFan and Erich Ingram. So PLEASE, let me know if there are any issues you've noticed with the first release, especially those that really follow Japanese baseball.

I've updated the roster file, such that some of the statistics are tweaked, and it also includes ballpark pictures. This will be (unless someone catches something big) the final NPB release for me this year. That means that if you're using this to add to your league universe, please use THIS version. Read the readme.txt file for instructions. And again, thanks go out to www.japanesebaseball.com for their data, and blackrussian for his immense help and NPB facepack.

right back at ya jared HUGE effort on yr part and a big thank you.

also, i have a good spreadsheet (that i forwarded to murmur13) that collects a lot of historical information that would allow one to accurately move the NPB along year to year (franchise changes, attendance, etc) and im in the process of making it into an easy to navigate HTML layout. should be done relatively soon and ill upload it when its finished.

I'd been looking for something just like this to get started. Thanks!

I do have a question or two. (I'm still a newbie trying to wrap my mind around this game, so please forgive if any of them are dumb.)

1) I'd love to have something just like this league, but starting in the 1970s. But I have no idea how I would come up with all the appropriate numbers for the "Options & Ballpark" page for each team...or what else I would need to research and change. It wouldn't have to be dead-on, just good enough for the league to be a not-too-distant cousin of reality. Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated.

2) If I use this league along with your NPB historical database, but don't set up a concurrent MLB, will it work okay? I would want to have historical players show up in the draft, foreign players who historically played in NPB show up in the free agent pool, then add in enough fictional players to fill out the ni-gun rosters. I'm not interested in recruiting foreigners who didn't play in Japan in real life, or in having MLB swipe any players from my league. Will all that happen, if I just follow the instructions in the other thread while omitting anything having to do with MLB?

Thanks again for all the wonderful work you fans have done to compile rosters and other content, and help new OOTP-ers like myself.
