Stadium specs

Does anyone know if the distance of the walls on stadiums effects the game or does the game only use the ball park factors?

I "believe" that distances and heights matter. Like, when a player hits a homerun, the game decides how high the ball is, then looks at the height of a stadiums wall to determine if the player did in fact hit a home run.

I may be wrong here, but I'm 99% sure I've seen Markus confirm this type of behavior before.
