Orioles Billy Rowell (3B) and Brandon Erbe (SP) were on potential every prospect top 100 list in the past ten months. From BA's Top 100 list from February, 28th 2007 Rowell was at 47. and Erbe was at 78. I think both of them (at least Rowell ) should be in there.

Here's the book on Rowell:

57 contact, 82 gap power, 62 power, 58 walks, 38 strikeouts as potentials, I have NO idea why he isn't on the BA Top 100 for the OOTP league, but he should be easily over some of the other guys.

Not sure what the deal is.

Will the roster set have a real history (i.e. real HR career leaders, etc?) or will it be like AirmenSmith's roster where Bonds is the leader?

A real historical background would add a lot to the set. Thx!

Not for the first release. The copy of the file that we're basing this all off didn't have an imported history, so the only workaround possible is to reimport ANOTHER historical league into the game, associate all the minors with it, then delete the original MLB league and redo ratings on the players on the major league squad. This wouldn't take as long as it seems actually, because I can just export/import ratings, but it does take long enough that we're saving it for the second release.

Just to save you guys some reload time, we're looking at late tonight/early tomorrow afternoon. We have all the pieces together (finally) but all that is left is exporting them, and throwing things together in Excel for a re-import and release. That's certainly not to say that it won't be out tonight, just that it might not be until tomorrow afternoon.

I'll try to get an update in later this evening with an estimate on hours to release.

Put it this way...if Ellsbury was anything like Damon and OOTP had a "potential backstabbing" rating...he'd be at the top of the list.

AndRamirez would be in Texas and A-Rod in Boston if MLBPA had allowed A-Rods "TEXAS" contract to be de-valued (shows loyalty) ... Yankees just took A-Rods contract (Texas paying a big piece of it (around 7 million)). ... Yankees also just came closer to what Damon wanted (too much) than Boston would because tey were looking at Beltran and did not think he would signwith Yankees --- Bo Sox wrong again --- GO BABE !

Not to jump the gun or anything, but is there a timeline of when the 2nd release will be? I'm interested in the history as well as additional minors, but if the 2nd release will be too far away, I might just stick with this release.

Thanks!

Wow, talk about deflated. No history in it. I was looking so forward to a roster release, any roster release. And this one was looking real close. Now I find out it's something I won't use.

I have decided this will be my final purchase of the OOTP game. I need existing players (at least to start). The up and down ride of is there a roster/isn't there one isn't much fun. I play these games for fun. If a roster can't be produced by the company, they should at least provide a way for one of these dedicated groups to make them.

Don't chime in with the make them yourself diatribes. I work full time and carry a full time course load. Although, had I known going in, I probably could have made one to my satisfaction if not others by now, or saved myself the frustration and not purchased to begin.

There are better alternatives out there for me and that's where I'll continue to spend my money. It's a real shame, as it is a solid game otherwise.

Well, for what it's worth, it sounds as if Cubby has every intention of getting this information in for the second release of the roster. And, while I don't want to put words into anyone's mouth here, I would bet that there's a much, much shorter lead time between release 1 and release 2 than there was for creating release 1 from scratch.

I do feel your pain though. I've *tried* solo fictional leagues, and I just can't get into it. I like starting with real players so that fictional players slowly enter the league...and I can learn them a few at a time rather than a few hundred at a time. So I, too, have been checking the board daily/hourly looking for updates.

I gotta believe that the developers realize now (or maybe they always have) that there's a huge chunk of OOTP customers that only enjoy playing with real rosters. Knowing how responsive the developers are, I have to think that they'll find some way to make the creation of real rosters a smoother process than it was this year. I think that most of last development cycle had to be spent simply making OOTP a better game, and it feels (at least to me) like they succeeded. So I remain optimistic that the roster creation process is something that will be addressed for next year's version.

So keep the faith Boyd...give it a whirl with Cubby's first version, see how the stats turn out, how the ratings development flows, etc...and by the time you've gotten a handle for how the roster feels, I bet version two will be out with alot more of the bells and whistles that you're looking for to really hunker down on banging out a few seasons.

...at least that's what I'm hoping!

EDIT: It's not worth arguing about.

But you do realize that history just means the almanac for pre-2006 right? Everyone still has all career stats, etc. etc., the only thing missing is the almanac detailing say, 1965 Detroit Tigers.

It's going to be in within a week or two, I really wouldn't sweat it like you seem to be.

I have faith in Cubby for both releases. I'm just anxious waiting for the first release, which I think should definitely be enough to play with before we even start wondering about the 2nd release.

Just buy Baseball Mogul...it's seriously just as fun. You spend more time playing than actually looking at stats and it comes with real rosters.

Plus, there is NOTHING wrong with AirmenSmith's rosters for OOTP...I don't get why people don't understand that?

Let's keep this on topic, this is a discussion thread for ratings, I'll post in the other thread when we release the rosters.
