aging / devel ratings

I've been screwing around w/ the aging / development ratings to try to find a good balance. I believe the file is set w/ .650 for again and .850 for development. The prob seems to be that the league is dominated by young players, and older guys retire too early.

I changed the factors to .500 for aging and .600 for devel and I ran about 15 years. I like what the aging impact did, but for development....I think I'm just slowing down the whole league.

I think that the prob might be that young players are simply too good to begin with (current ratings, not potential). For example, in 1 sim, some guy named Evan Longoria at TB won an MVP in 2007. In another, Joey Votto (CIN, I think) won one right away.

Looks to me from limited testing that reducing aging to .500 or .600 might be a good idea, but maybe devel needes to stay around .750 or so, and some prospects need a bump down in current ratings.

What are you all experiencing?

In other sets, last years rolen set for example, the modifies were much higher. I was wondering if higher modifiers don't work long term and lower modifers are the way to go?

Thanks so much.

Just downloaded the rosters the other day and was wondering if anyone had put together issues for the Cardinals. I only played with it for an hour or so, but was able to see a few issues:

1. Jaime Garcia was on the active roster as one of the better SP on the Cardinals. However he is only in AA in real life.
2. Jon Jay is on the active roster and is also ready for the MLB. However he couldn't even hit AA ball this year and is back in single A.
3. Gary Bennett and So Taguchi are on the MLB team and are not great, but decent performers. Their ratings here are terrible and should be nowhere near the MLB.
4. Eli Marrero / Toma Okha are not with the Cardinals

Will provide some more comments when I get a chance to get back into the game.
