Big Update on the Status of my Rosters...

OK, So I have been obviously following the Cubby/HB release thread and have seen all the problems they have been having. Because of those problems, I am thinking of trying to ramp up the work on my set to get a MLB and Minors only release out shortly after the trade deadline. Right now as I post this I am running a final 30 yr test on the settings that I have been developing to see if I have any huge issues to attack between now and a release. I do have a couple small cosmetic issues to work on. but those aren't deal breakers as of right now.
So no huge promises this time around, but assuming the test runs without crashing, I might have something out soon.

Late Aug 2007...

So far there's no rush of young players all over the leaderboards so I might have figured that out.

2009 is where the real changing of the guard seems to be taking place. alot of the guys you expect to see on the leaderboards right now aren't anywhere to be seen. But there are still a lot of exceptions. Like Jim Thome is leading the AL in HR's at the end of July 2009

any reason why this couldnt just be added to your existing roster thread?

im having absolutely no problems with the cubby/HB release, nor are the vast majority of users, i think its a bit misleading present it in this way....

Yea well from what I have been reading anyone that's trying to use scouts or waivers are actually having issues. So I decided to go against my first thoughts and release a MLB and Minors only set.

I agree with you. I am having no problems at all.

And after going back and reading some of those posts (I have been away for a little while enjoying cubby's set) it seems that you are always the focus of controversy and problems.

Actually Jack, I was trying to point out to Cubby where some of his problems were coming from. I've been there, done that. I have seen all the problems people are having with his rosters. And I know how I redid everything to get around those problems. Instead of him having to do tons and tons of trial and error, I attempted to offer some of the insights that I have come across from a couple months worth of tearing apart and rebuilding roster sets within the game to try and get some actual decent results.

Heck Jack, I was hoping to get you to help test it for me. Since I know you are very experienced at the online side of the game. Thought you might have fun with a real world set that has even the small details like correct service times

I agree with you Pujols- but, my man, you have to understand- there's a lot of ill will based on, uh, past experiences- and- right or wrong- I think most everyone is in "put up or shut up" mode whenever the two words "roster" and "APujols" show up together.....Definitely not exciting people like "chocolate" and "peanut butter".

I say give 'em hec and put together a killer roster set- but it might be best to refrain from drawing attention to yourself until it's complete.

OK Made some great strides on the roster set last night. I would say I am about 10 days to 2 weeks from being able to start my final run of testing. Which I would definitely be interested in anyone that might wish to test it as well. Especially the online side of things. I don't have any webspace where I can test out the set as it pertains to uploading html pages and all that fun stuff.

Also does anyone know if it's possible to make a zip file smaller than normal? I would love to include all the logos, player pics, stadium pics and just have it all as one download. and keep it under 200mb

Thumbs down I'm wonering

I've been keeping up with some of your progress and work. I'm involved in a league that may be using Cubby 3.0 as a file. I'm wondering if you can post any progress you've made on "Talent Change Randomness." Saw your post after chriskelly's, wondered where you are now on this?

Thanks ahead of time for sharing any thoughts.

Sorry I don't have any definitive answers yet. I am planning
on running some more tests this week at some point. But I
have been concentrating on the roster work the last few
days.

crossed another big hurdle towards release off my list today. Transactions have been caught up from OD. So I can now see who needs added to the game.

Editing Service times, DOBs, Secondary postions, and all that Jazz, sucks the big hairy one....

I am still gonna try and get done by my original timeline, but that means I have to average about 3-5 organizations a day. Not sure how likely that will be. But I will give it my best effort.
