The caps thing was just an oops. I was using it to differentiate between standard Lahman records and my altered records during testing and I forgot to change it back. I'll fix that this weekend and resend the db to all sim baseball.
Sorry, I erred. It happens. You can use the Spritze db if you wish, just don't use it with neutralized stats. |

You must have RAH on and use neutralized stats to get to that desired outcome.
RAH on should not allow Mr. Abbott to retire until his actual retirement date from MLB. Gap seasons should pull ratings from the neutralized stats and those gap seasons should show on the neutralized stats tabs in the player profile even if they do not on the real life stats tab. |

I finally got it to download.
I reinstalled OOTP 9.0.27 and copy and pasted the files into the stats folder. Still no Negro Leaguers ! With OOTP 8 and OOTP 9 (before patch) they were there ! Maybe I am missing something ?? |

Latest DB
Spritze,
Thanks again for all your great DB work, definitely the best one out there. I'm up to 1963 in a "dry run" and one thing has stood out- only one Negro Leaguer has had anything resembling a decent career (Jud Wilson) while right now(in 1963), 15 of the top 30 players are Japanese. It seems we're back to square one with Negro Leaguers? My only complaint about the DB is that the Negro Leaguers shouldn't be "punished" b/c there stats weren't maintained/respected the way they should have been. I understand the most practical thing to do is to simply use whatever real stats are out there, but we all know how shoddy the real NeL stats are, and for a career minor leaguer to have a robust pile of MLE's while Satchel Paige, for example, doesn't have much to show seems a little off? I thought the last DB had reached a very nice compromise with Negro Leaguer performance- any reason that was changed? Can you suggest a remedy for me? And, if the remedy is to individually edit each player, can you suggest what settings I should use with the DB? Previously, I have found that editing ratings yearly with re-calc on is a chore, because it has to be done over and over and I don't want to turn re-calc off. Do you know if switching the %'s around will make a difference? And speaking of %'s, what default settings do you recommend for those? Christ, too many questions. Sorry! Thanks for any advice in advance, and again- this is a GREAT DB. |

If you use the Spritze db instead of the Spritze/Garlon db I feel the Negro Leaguers are much more in line with their probable performances.
Mr. Garlon felt the Negro Leaguers were too dominant so he had me weaken them. My feeling is that when you choose the top 1% of the historical Negro and Japanese players of course they are dominant. If you are shooting for mediocrity you should choose mediocre players instead of making good players worse. We just had to agree to disagree on this. So I weakened the Negro leaguers in this db but not the Japanese. |
