Yeah I am saddened with it and would love my money back. I have purchased every version and have been a faithful player. This year it all fell apart. Yes there are two rosters...basically ready with one month left in the season when my mind if moving to football. Those two versions are far from being anything near what previous years rosters were. They are shaky (lock ups, crashes, etc). SI could have made this better.
Maybe if roster sets were released at the release of the game (as advertised) there may not be so much dissatisfaction. I appreciate all the hard work folks have done, but to me personally, it all fell apart this year - from the game on down to the rosters. Just my 39.99 worth of cents....and just my opinion. I'm on to Madden 'o8 personally. Last edited by mattkma : 08-30-2007 at 10:22 PM. |

This is easily the best and most complete version of the game, ever.

this is great... i like how everyone blames SI for not having rosters meanwhile they don't have a license with MLB to create a roster so they then depend on others to get them a roster and when the rosters crash and burn or comes out really late in the season the game is now crap...
How about trying this... if you want a roster for your enjoyment... create it your damn self and not rely on anybody else, maybe you'll get an appreciation for what the other guys go through when trying to please the greater populus that want up to date rosters. ![]() |

I used to be you, but I quickly found out you can enjoy the game more when you don't have to worry about having the most up to date rosters. That being said, if you don't want to go the "Make your own rosters" route, you could have always just downloaded cubbie's and made some tweaks to it. There are options out there. Just because you chose none of them is not SI's fault.

This cheered me up, which I needed after coming over here from the General Discussions board as directed by Sandman's post therein. I have joined the crowd favoring the inclusion of rosters rather than depending on the kindness of strangers. If it costs more, so be it. Avoids the lunacy, don't you know. At the same time, I continue to celebrate my preference for solo fictional play and my avoidance of becoming too involved here. I am thinking of reverting to my former lurking posture or taking my third patch and getting the hell out of here for good. Well, I was cheered up for a little while at least.

I am a fictional solo league type of player. I have only played a few historical leagues and hated them. So why am I concerned over the roster situation? It has nothing to do with my gaming preference but it has a lot to do with one keeping a promise. If something is promised, it should be delivered on the time that it was promised or an explanation with a new time of release.
Everything that I have created, the schedule pack, the random debut database and utility and a few other mods were completed and when not on schedule a new time/date was given to it's anticipated delivery. Usually I missed by a couple of days - not months...... With that said, I was only trying to be funny when I posted the comments on the main board (Best Roster Set?). It was meant to be funny and not to bring anguish to those waiting for the set, or any set. Lets hope that next year there is a happy medium. A roster set for historical players with at least the Majors and perhaps the top 10-20 prospects for each franchise to start with perhaps a mod later in the year filling in the minors. Until then, this version is the best version to date for the fictional player and is the easiest to date for online leagues, may the next version be more to the liking of those who want historical leagues and current year rosters. Regards, Sandman |

its a money grab
The bottom line is that this game was completely mismarketed, and not by mistake. SI knew this was a game for fictional players. Markus and Company knew they didn't care about people who wanted to play real game. They pretended they did to get their money. End of story.
