Pitfalls of using OOPT8 photos for converting 6.5 league

My online league is using OOTP 6.5 for two more seasons. We went ahead and converted the league to OOTP 8 and generated player pics, transformed them into .bmp files, and inserted them into our 6.5 league.

It's working fine, but what will happen when we convert the league into an OOTP 8 league a couple of seasons from now? Will OOTP 8 recognize the pics, and convert them into its own format? It won't try to generate new photos over the old ones, unless it's specifically told to do so, will it? Will we lose the picture "aging" ability of OOTP 8?

We've only done about 25 pics for each team. I didn't want to go ahead and make pics for all the minor leaguers who probably won't make the majors until we convert, especially if some of the effort is going to be erased.

I'm pretty sure that the game will not recognize these pics after you convert. If my reasoning holds, the game will likely regenerate pics for these players. If it doesn't regenerate pics, at the very least you'll likely lose your aging, etc on the pics.

Thanks for the feedback Sporr. It surprises me that the game would, by default, create new pictures for players (who already had pics) when a league from an older version is imported.

But we'll see. We just need to experiment some more.

It might depend on how the photos are named. If they are named with the player name format rather than ID number format, then that will override the game creating one for them. However, these photos won't age.
