Best Ever Roster Set in works (each franchise's best)
Just thought I would throw out there that I have begun work on a roster project that will include the best players ever from each franchise.
I started looking around for something like this, and the only thing I found was something called "Franchise Stars," which looked like exactly what I was looking for. It seemed to be nearing release and the creator ended up being banned from the board. So that was the end of that. This set will work mostly in the same way, but I'm sparing myself all the math work, spreadsheet formulas, etc. that guy did. Simply, the players will be imported based on their best season with that team based on BPs WARP3. Potential ratings will be based on their careers from that point forward. I will alter fielding ratings, uniform numbers, etc. down the line, but first I just want to get a set with that basic setup out there for people, rather than leaving them waiting for "perfection," which it seemed is what this other guy tried. Anyway, 9 teams done at this point. I would like to put 2 Negro League teams in there, too, but I have to strengthen my Negro League research before it would make sense for me to do that. One step at a time. Don't be alarmed if this isn't updated for a while...I just don't believe in posting an "update" that isn't really one. |

12 teams done at this point. I'm probably going to release a 50 player per team version and then later on do a 75 per team. I'm not doing the aging thing the original maker was doing, so I don't think there's as much need for a 75-player system (and finding 75 Expos is really hard!)

One quick note...I am trying to place guys where they had the most impact, not just whom they played the most games for. I'm largely using WARP3 to determine this. However, in a case where a guy would be the 10th OF for one franchise or the 2nd OF for another, if the gaps in contribution aren't too large I'll probably put him where he's going to see more action.

Regardless, I'm not in love with his aging method (though I see what he was trying to do) and I think my way lines up better for those who not only want to do it as a Franchise set but as a best ever getting turned loose for an open draft.Hey, options are always good. And, since I have no plans on being banned, I should be able to carry out further updates in due time. |

The more I pick at this, another thing is that I will do a full roster for the Marlins, D'Backs, Rockies and, as hard as this might be, the Devil Rays. Finding 75 Tampa Bay Devil Rays will be virtually impossible, but it should be really, really funny.

Matt Williams (SF) Tony Clark (DET) Randy Johnson (SEA) Curt Schilling (PHI) Jay Bell (PIT) Lyle Overbay (MIL) Orlando Hudson (TOR) Tony Batista (TOR) Hell, I think they even lose Armando Reynoso to the Rockies. They've just had a lot of good guys have short stops but really "belong" to other teams. |

You might make the Minor League Level MLB so good people down their don't get released.
The Rays are easy to make with like Canseco,Boggs,Crawford,Pena,Upton,Young,Jackson,Ga rza,Kazmir,Wheeler,Ryes and so on.

How could you put Boggs on the Rays? I think of him as a Red Sox player. He played with the Rays what 3 years and they weren't the best of his career.
I could understand the Yankees before the Rays. Just my humble opinion. And Canseco I forgot he even played with the Rays he's an Athletic Last edited by tkirch : 02-12-2008 at 02:13 PM. |
