This is just I guess, but I don't think the problem is with the league file itself but with the conversion from 6.5 to 9 on a mac. Maybe if someone could upload a ootp9 version rather than a 6.5 version it would work.
Like I said, just a guess. I have never been able to successfully convert any 6.5 league on my mac. But then, I don't have much reason to.

Spanky's All Time Greats & OOTP 2009
This is just a note to let everyone know that I just installed OOTP 2009 and sucessfully imported Spanky's All Time Greats (OOTP 6.5) and everything works great! No glitches found.
Remember, you only want to import the league.dat file. Since this is a rather large file, so you want to make sure you have enough space on your hard drive, i.e., at least 1GB for the entire game engine to work properly. Also, you don't want to forget to readjust some of the game settings before you start playing. I advise that you also delete all historical data for the league so that you don't get some of the stats left over from my earlier playing days. I really enjoy listening to the ballpark sounds while I'm busy trying to climb my way into first place. However, I still cheat and load my team up with All-Time greats at every position. Being as busy as I am, I really don't have much time for losing. I sincerely hope you enjoy playing with "The Greats" as much as I do - there are always surprises and individual performances from the best and brightest to the least expected in every game played. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr - OOTP 2009

As for changing the name of the league to something other than "Gold Coast League" I'm not sure if this can be done within the "game setup" menu or not. Once you have imported "The Greats" into OOTP 2009, you may want to try saving it as a new game. I've never done that so I'm not sure what will happen. Spanky |

Yes Templates do work sometimes and Leagues you load from past versions Year is taken away so you have to re pick them for like Trade Deadline and so on.
It's best to have less Leagues but more people on the Free-Agent and Leagues with Minor Leagues just to make it fun and so on.

Next Year's Update to OOTP 2009
I will post the All-Time Greats in an OOTP9 version next year. Of course, you have have to convert it to OOTP10 afterwards. Can anyone think of a reason not to do this? Or should I also post an OOTP 6.5 version for others to convert too?
btw, the "All-Time Greats" is still a blast to play! Spanky |

Just A Note
Just thought I'd post a quick note. I started to play a regular season using a 2008 regular team. I found it extremely boring ... not enough free agents. I guess I've been spoiled with the All Time Greats.

Adding More People
Quote:
In the past few years, I have added many younger players who are good, not great, but who may be upcoming greats. As I'm playing OOTP games, I do notice some great performances by average players but overall it is pretty tough goings. For example, Babe Ruth is on my team and while 1/2 thru the season he has hit 26 HR's with 60 RBI's, he is hitting less than .280. The same goes for pitchers, Vida Blue is 7-5 but got clobbered his last outting. It's tough and less than average players just won't hack it. My minor league teams are full but there are only a couple of players whom I have confidence in to fill holes on the main roster. However, I will definitely relax the requirements for greatness in the coming years since I have completed the bulk of my work. Spanky |
