1940 Historical Quickstart *Now Available*

All Sim Baseball

Here we go...just in time to hold you off till OOTP 9, and probably then some, a historical quickstart two plus months in the making. This is a 1940 historical quickstart, with Latin America winter leagues, and a set of minors and feeders, Negro Leagues, and independents. There is a barnstorming circuit and an Armed Forces League. All uniforms are courtesy of Brad (No Pepper) and Pete (cephasjames), and the ethnicity mod is also courtesy of Pete. Those dudes are awesome. Anyway, included in the zip are all of the necessary game files, so be sure to back up your current files, and overwrite them with these, as the quickstart was created using them. Also, unzip the quickstart folder into the appropriate location, and open in-game.

This quickstart was created to somewhat emulate pre-WWII baseball, with it's minor league systems and host of independents. It was difficult trying to emulate the migration of players, be it Negro leaguers to Latin America, barnstormers to the majors, etc. Not everything is 100% historically accurate. Bummer, I know. All stadiums were done by me, and are by no means 100% accurate, nor are all park ratings accurate. If you have a problem with this, don't download. If you have any comments/suggestions/kudos, you are welcome to post. If you have nothing constructive to add to the conversation, please do not ruin this thread. Thanks.

Stupid question, probably: will the provided "game files" work well for other leagues/games? I ask since it appears they apply to the entire game.

Obviously, I'll back up the originals . . . just wondering what the "game files" add to this league and the rest of the game?

Oh yeah, and, THANKS SO MUCH. Looks really nice

Unfortunately, the game files change any game that you create AFTER you over-write the originals. I really don't suggest using them unless your playing the quickstart, unless you want negro leagues. I hate messing with game files, but I thought the draw of negro leagues was too important. Plus, it always helps actually using the game files that were used to create a quickstart/template, this drastically decreases chances of the nasty OOTP crashes (KNOCK ON WOOD!). Oh yes, thank you!

Edit: Forgot to mention, I do not suggest playing your old games with these files, that seems like a recipe for disaster.

Wow! Very well done. There was a ton of work put into that. A lot of research, I'd assume, and a whole lot of fun. Good job.

Just wondering if anyone has used this, would like to see it updated for ootp9 (if necessary) or suggest any changes to make?

I've used it as a template for my historical ficitional league. I just transferred it over from version 8 to9 with no problems.
