There are about 150 guys that I've updated to be in the right opening day uniform that I'll put out with the update, when the draft picks are finished.

Great file.
I got some 500-600 in my file. Both missing and many in their MLB uniform, and some doubles and tripples of the same player.
We have three "problems"
Players 100% missing
Players with minor league uniform (not entirely wrong IMHO, a cool thing)
Players in wrong uniform.

I see if I finish the last few teams this weekend.

Yeah what I'm doing for this release is renaming all of the guys with the same name, the "lesser known" player receiving a middle initial after his first name. For guys like Francisco Rodriguez, the closer stays the same and the AA pitcher becomes Francisco M. Rodriguez.

Hope that helps when doing pics.

Very good.
Then I just looked at Hanley Statia in Angels. It should be Hainley Statia and he has a fine pciture in the OOTP9 photos folder.
Please adjust.
If you havenīt already. Iīm working on the 2.1 I think.

Donīt forget Aaron Cook in Colorado and Aaron Cook in Angels minors

Heck,
well try this you got a RAMON Martinez as a pitcher in Seattle. Well naturally he picks the wrong pictures.

BUT his name is ROMAN Martinez
Minor League Baseball: Stats: Player

Did I get that ????

You got some smaller problems with names like Dennis Stark in Seattle with no picture BUT OOTP9 has him as Denny Stark. I have found a couple of others with same results.
If a picture is missing OOTP sometimes have another given name like Starks...
Small editing and it will be fixed.
Osvaldo Navarro in Seattle got a picture in OOTP named Oswaldo Navarro

Well there's good news! This isn't taking as long as I originally feared to re-rate AA.

I only have 10 teams left to blow through for AA ratings, at which point every player in MLB/AAA/AA will have been re-rated for everything including proper positions (if they've played more than 10 games there in their recent career, or made a very recent position switch) as well as ratings based on stats for all of them. Literally every player at those levels was re-rated which is why it took quite a bit. I think the payoff is going to be more than worth it however.

After that, I need to go through and re-edit the Top 30 prospects which will not take much time at all, it mainly just consists of me checking to see who the prospects in the organization are in the game, editing any guys who are overrated, and then editing the top thirty.

From there we should be set for release for the next version! I'm hoping a week and a half at this point, but that timetable as always can go either way.

In retrospect, I'm glad I made the decision to go ahead and edit AA, there's quite a few guys down there that are going to make an impact in the majors this year or next (guys like Alcides Escobar, Samardzija, LaPorta, etc.) that were underrated to the point of not having a shot at playing until late 2009/2010. No one is overrated I don't think, but the collective talent has definately taken a big bump to the point that a lot of guys in AA COULD make the jump to the majors (although most pitchers are in the 5.50-6.50 ERA range, most hitters in the .580-.630 OPS range). It's pretty neat seeing a relatively obscure player play like he does in real life and offer some of the things that he does as well (especially great speed guys, high contact guys, strikeout pitchers, etc.)

Cubbyfan, the updated roster is outstanding. I literally just bought the game though and had a quick, noobish question for you.

I know you have to load up your saved game to get the updated rosters, and I figured out how to switch control over to my Phillies, but how do I change the manager's name from Bud Selig? I was fooling around with the game for a good 30 minutes and couldn't figure it out.

Thanks again for making the roster and for helping me out!

Actually I figured out how to change the name, but I had a separate question about the complete scouting system. I posted it over in the Newbie forum, but I'll just paraphrase it here.

The system is off by default with your roster...is there a reason for this? I also noticed that when I turn it on, my scout for the Phillies sucks, and all the other decent scouts are hired by other team but with contracts that are 0 years long. I like being able to hire/fire a scout, but is there a way to fix this, or is the system just not worth it?

Thanks for the help Cubbyfan and keep up the great work.

Just for the record ...
Are you planning anything with real-life coaches ?
I see that some teams do have more than just the real-life manager.
Arizona has a full set, but I am missing some classic guys. Dave Duncan for one.

Would be fun to set these up after the 2.5 version is ready, so time will not be messed up.
The 2.5 version I think will look just SUPER.

In preparing those AA prospects donīt forget to look over the Future All-Star Game and get those guys in position to make a run for the big league in 2009.

MISSING
Paul Estrada Houston 40-man roster but still not ready from injury. Create him and put him on DL and he is trying to start up in Round Rock
Paul Estrada Stats, Bio, Photos, Highlights | Astros.com: Team

Whoīs Edgardo Saldi?a in Great Lakes Loons. Canīt find any with given name or surname close.
Have a look please...

I'm really excited about this, especially knowing guys like Samardzija will be accurately done. He's been a beast so far out of the pen. Looks like a future closer for us or a solid starter in a year or two.

I agree that this is awesome. I am a new ootp player with 9, and i joined an online league, which I am enjoying. But i have been waiting to start up my solo league (other than to do some test runs) until the newest roster comes out. I admire the attention to detail, and you are saving me a ton of time because I am constantly editing players on the games I buy. Thanks!

He's one of the difficult guys to rate, guys like him, Adam Miller, etc. are probably going to end up in the bullpen but on the outside shot that they could start, we're left at a bit of a crossroads as to whether they should be rated as lights out closers down the line or very good starters.

Kind of a tough judgment call!

I think I'm aiming at this upcoming end of weekend as a good release time, I have the whole weekend off and not much to do besides go out and recover the next morning(s).

Set is looking really solid.

Are MLB rosters being tweaked, rating wise with regards to vs LH/RH? If so, how are you doing so? Last 3 years?

Yeah, I think it's an issue moreso with how OOTP is made. I made a post about it here and wish the reliever/starter thing was more blurred.

OOTP 9 - General Discussions - OOTP Developments Forums

I'd probably go with a reliever at this point. Not sure if he has 3 good pitches yet.

Prospects + AA is done alphabetically through San Diego. Seven more teams to go and then release time.

This is definately going to be the first (in a long time) of a very usable roster set. I think you'll get some great leagues out of this one.

Next (and last most likely) release after this will just be making players in Single-A and lower rated at the correct positions and pitching slots (starters/relievers) and adding in stadiums and coaches for all levels. Honestly though you could probably do without that if you want to start a league.

Also will probably release a simultaneous set with that release with up-to-date rosters.

Probably planning on a 2009 set sometime in October as well with updated stats and results for the 2008 season.

Release is coming soon!

Great man,
if you got some HUGE prospect in those Single A spots, like any who played in the Future All-Star Game, PLEASE do check them out and do some magic on them... The rest as you say could be left...

Hope you got my missing guys into this....

Hope to play it after the weekend without any problems.
I got tons of photos but then many other have the same I guess, so we see how it looks when the roster is realesed.
All the guys in minor league uniforms are OK, but we got all those with uniforms from earlier days.

Anyone in the Top 30 prospects is going to be re-rated (regardless of whether they're below Single-A or not). I'm also using Baseball America's website to try and grab anyone who wasn't in the top thirty's to begin the year and has had a breakout year.

Was missing a ton of players in those Top 30s as well so will be adding them as well as the guys you have mentioned.
