I noticed some of the GCL and Short Season A teams have no players. Will it make me fill them with fictional players?

Also, I noticed, but why did you sim up to April 1st when there were games on March 25th and stuff. Since now their are 6 double header games the first day.

Simmed to the first so we could have the real life draft class in there. GCL and Short Season schedules won't begin until after the draft, at which point all the teams should be completely filled.

And I realized what the problem was, you have to extract the WinZip file to the saved games directory, don't create your own folder in there.

(if you extract it to savedgames/blah.lg it will create the real MLB08.lg folder INSIDE that one, so when you open blah.lg in OOTP it won't open correctly)

Hope that helps.

Also when you're playing, any Free Agents with unnamed injuries are players who went to Japan IRL for a year, so they'll be back in the Roster Set when they would have their Japanese contracts expire.

I'm pretty sure I extracted it that way...but I'll try deleting and doing it again.

Yeah I tried it originally and got the same message, but it was because the folder I needed was inside the actual league folder.

If it keeps doing it, looks in the league folder and see if theres a ____.lg folder inside of it. If there is, just cut it and put it in the saved games folder.

Hope that wasn't too complicated.

still giving the same message...looked in the league folder and there was not another league folder inside. It says the nations file is either corrupt or a saved game from an old version

I'll try updating and re-patching it up here in a few.

Quick question on 40 man rosters in the new set

First of Cubby - thank you SO much. These rosters are really promising. My kudos to you for the work you do.

My question is this - when I start the game and become the Dodgers' GM, my 40-man roster is empty. Is this normal? What should I do with it?

Also, can I change my name from Bud Selig?

I'm obviously a newbie. Thanks in advance.

Yes you can fill your 40-man however you want.

To create your own manager, go to the Game drop down, add yourself, then after you've created yourself with the job you want, go to Game again, Select Human Manager, select yourself, and you can go back and delete Bud at the Add/Edit Human Manager box.

Sorry - more questions

Am I doing this right? Do I just "Load Game" and enter in the MLB08New league? Does that mean when I save I'm saving over the base set?

The reason I ask is this - the settings in the new game look pre-patch. The Rule 5 Draft can't be enabled (at least for me). Scouting is turned off. Etc.

I'm pretty confused....

Rule 5 Draft will be disabled unless you want to turn it back on after the current season. You can turn scouting on or off as you please with no issues.

And yes, whenever you save you'll be saving over the base set so you can either create a quickstart for the league to use, or unzip another copy whenever you want to start a new league.

Hope that helps!

Any opinions on league totals? Change/keep them the way they are? Simmed through a year and the overall offensive numbers looked a bit down, though I could be wrong.

I'm not sure if it's the set or something I've doing wrong but I've noticed the game throwing a bunch of doubleheaders into the first few games of the season. The A's in particular played four games in the first two days of the season. Also, starting pitchers seem to be pitching a little late into ballgames.

Hmm. I assume the front page is wrong. Or ??

Iīm still on 9.1.2 since I havenīt had any crashes with that version. The 9.1.6 seams to have had many crashes and I have been advised to stay 9.1.2 if I donīt have any problems.

How is the situation now with all you guys that DL this roster
Does it work with 9.1.2 9.1.5 and 9.1.6 OR

That Doubleheader problems or if it is. Couldnīt it be adjusted and moving some of those DH later into the season.
Can the schedule be tampered with at this state ??

Now he might be doing a updated NF League to put in here.
Keep the Fake Coaches/Staff on the Free Agent Market to make it more intersting and also add people who are retired but not in the Hall of Fame yet to the Free-Agent Market.
The Updated Japanese file isn't out yet so why is their Japanese people in it?

IMO if you want to hire a new coach, you shouldn't be able to just run out and hire someone just as good as a MLB manager.

Does anyone know if there's a list anywhere of ex-coaches? I'd like to populate the free agent coach pool with guys who are unemployed right now to at least give the teams a chance at signing someone else who's real.
This will hopefully get to the fact that many teams have faked coaches besides the historical correct.
Iīm missing many pitching coaches, like Dave Duncan.
Work on "making coaches" on top coaches like Dave Duncan.
Leo Mazzone must be created I think since he only played in the minors while active.
Well, itīs only to go over the teams pitching coaches and "make them coaches" to their present teams.
Same goes for other coaches. Most have had active careers and should be better in the game then all those fictional free agent coaches AND the coaches presently in the teams.
However A HUGE WORKLOAD my friend. Take it or leave it.
Like you say one have to look at managers that have been fired over the last 5-6 years and do the same with them so teams can hire them in the future.

Guess Atlanta Braves Team History & Encyclopedia - Baseball-Reference.com this might help on the way figure out who managed what teams...

Managerial Register - Baseball-Reference.com
