I just noticed that. Thanks. So what is the solution? Use feeder leagues, setup a 30 round draft, and lose about 900 1 star prospects who are in the feeder leagues? Make smaller feeder leagues that only have enough players in them to fill the 30 round draft?

I would just disable the age limitations and it should go back to normal. I thought it would just prevent anyone younger than 16 from entering the league but apparently that is not the case (which makes no sense but whatev) |

Regarding the draft pool/feeder league question, it should be pointed out that if you take the rosters as Cubby released them and add feeder leagues and players at the beginning, it messes up his draft pool. You end up with 960 players instead of 900, and about 80 of the players in the pool are fictional, so it clearly replaces some of the players he put in with fictional ones.
The way around this is to wait until after the first season, then add the feeder leagues. Then you get your 900 Cubby created players in the first year, and 900 game created players in future years.

If you want like Babe Ruth just added like Spanky's or All-Time Greats League to this League or import him to the Free-Agent Market in this league.

And I noticed that after 15-20 years, the minors are filled with late 20's-early 30's players. In fact, the Cubs only had 5 players under the age of 20. My guess is that this has nothing to do with the rosters and more to do with bad roster management by the AI.

Recalc adjusts earlier historical sims by looking at the previous year's stats, this year's sim, and the following year's stats and pulling them back to the average.

I'd first off like to say that the set is phenomenal. Getting some great results and it looks like this is a winner. I'm not real versed in the tweaking of stuff, but I did run a bunch of simulations. Just figured I'd post my results in the event you are still tweaking.
- AVG seems to be about 5-10 points too low. I'm seeing an average of about .257 when I think it should be closer to .263. - In the same vain, ERA seems too high by about .05. - Some stars will fall of the face of the earth fast every single simulation. I have yet to do one that Alfonso Soriano makes it past 2010. In fact, I haven't made it past one where he doesn't get shipped down to the minors in 2009 (some he is sent in 2008). He loses all his fielding ratings within a year in the outfield. While I know that the game doesn't know players, it just seems odd that he is destined to become the worst player in the game fast no matter how many times I sim. Did he just get on some bizarrely bad curve that can't be changed? Or is there possibly some kind of weird setting that causes it. I'm not sure if he's the only one to deal with it, I've just been following a couple teams closely and noticed he was always the one to get destroyed. It's not a knock on the development curve, just a weird occurence that happens in every simulation. - I see too many career ending injuries in the game that really have an effect on the league. Between 5-10 a year with some big stars going. I'm in the process of editing an injury.txt file that eliminate most of these and just make them long injuries that keep a player out for a year instead. With the way development kills an injured player, many of these long injuries will be career enders anyway, but require the team to hang on and see if they can come back. |

The Soriano thing IS weird. I'm going to try re-importing him and simming to see if it still kills him or if that fixes the bug.
At this point I'm going to try and get coaches edited, but I'm going to be taking a bit of a break to play NFL Head Coach and get moved in the next few weeks. After that, the next roster editing will most likely be so that we can have a 2009 set out the door sometime in October. Hoping to make the next very accurate since we already have the world created, so hopefully you can go through free agency (with the right free agents), the Rule 5 (with the right eligible players), etc. before starting your season. EDIT: Also if anyone sees any more players missing PLEASE let me know. Going to be doing transactions to update rosters to 2009 very soon and want to make sure we have as many of the correct players in there as possible. Sad thing we will be left with an unfinished roster product again.
This always seams to be the case in all sport games. Creators bust their behind to finish it, but then the season finish and a new sport gets attention. A new 2009 roster will probably be drowned in a new version of OOTP10 so it will be a uncertain thing indeed. The hardest thing to create a fix roster for a fixed year is SPEED to create it and also inside this time get it to work up to 90%. This roster looked very promissing and I guess we have to go whit what we got. Sad thing the coaches wasnīt finished. This one was soooo close to being 99%. The rest of the unfinished things (not too many thanks to CubbyFan) will be fixed by each and everyone that likes to improve this roster. Still the best platform one have. Thanks CubbyFan. |

Is it a bug? I have simmed at least 10 times and he dies everytime. I can't figure out why. It's not like he's 40 years old or has bad ratings. Let me know if that importing works as I'll try it on my set before I begin my own league.

I also think it sets up a nice base for the next version as CubbyFan was pointing out. Lets hope Markus embraces CubbyFan and utilizes his abilities for next year's set. |
