Alright guys, here's version 2.0! Updated things are in the original post. I've also gone ahead and done Arizona's Top 30 prospects, but this may be more of a chore than I thought as seven players were missing off the top thirty. Haven't added them in yet, but have adjusted everyone else.

Great job on the set everyone, really looking forward to updated Top Prospects and lower level modfications.
Going through it, a couple of ChiSox things I noticed if you are doing pitch types. Mark Buehrle - Also throws a Curve, Slider, and Sinker Jose Contreras - No Splitter but a Forkball and a Slider. Also, his hometown of Las Martinas is not in the game, but he is from the Pinar del Rio province. The capital city of Pinar del Rio works just fine instead of his current City of Birth in the game of Havana. John Danks - Also throws a Cutter and Slider Gavin Floyd - No Splitter, but also throws a Curveball and Slider Nick Masset - Also throws a Curveball Octavio Dotel - Also throws a Curveball. Should drop velocity to 93-95. Scott Linebrink - Also throws a Slider. Should drop his velocity to 91-93. Mike MacDougal - Velocity drop to 95-97 Bobby Jenks - Also throws a Slider and Cutter. Drop velocity to 94-96. Boone Logan - No Sinker or Curveball, but throws a Slider. Up his velocity to 91-93. Ehren Wasserman - Also throws a Curveball. Drop his velocity to 86-88. As a side note, Baseball Statistics and Analysis | FanGraphs Baseball tracks each pitcher in the majors in regards to pitch type and velocity (as well as what % they throw each pitch). Check it out it is awesome. Here's John Danks' profile. Other things I have noticed. Alexei Ramirez: Needs a bump in the ratings department. Here's his current stat lines (214 AB): AVG: .308 HR: 7 And his 50th% Pecota projections: AVG: .295 HR: 13 Now for what the game projects him: AVG: .204 HR: 0 I would say he needs a bump in both the contact and power ratings (currently at 1 out of 250). In 5 years in Cuba he was already in the top 10 in lifetime batting average (in the .360 range), and he led the Cuban league in homers last year as well. Also, he has played some CF as well this year (as well as on the Cuban National team) so he should have a rating there. He can also straight jet, but has yet to harness his speed to become a basestealer. I would bump up his speed quite a bit but decrease his stealing ability. He just yesterday scored from second on a long fly out to center field against the Royals. Finally, his new nickname in the States (given to him by Ozzie) is "The Cuban Missle" (because of his speed) or if you want to go with his old nickname in Cuba, it is "El Pirineo" Also, I realize that Gavin Floyd's past probably doesn't necessitate a bump in ratings despite this year, but his GB% is entirely way too high. Over his career, he has got GB's at a 41.3% rate, not the current 59% in the roster set. I can always tweak his ratings for my own purposes but that one was glaring. Once again, great job on the set and looking forward to future iterations. Last edited by southside_hitmen; 07-10-2008 at 05:28 AM. |

Havenīt looked at this new one yet, but I think I earlier saw a statement to get Barry Bonds retired.
Well, I have test-ran the original roster from OOTP three times and the FA Barry Bonds have ended up signing with Arizona all times. Now it even looks like Barry Bonds are talking with the D-backs to sign for the club. If you still got Bonds as retired perhaps he should be better on suspension until July then either FA or if he elects to sign for the D-backs he might be on their roster at start, but on suspension. Just my ![]() The OOTP predicts the future in this perhaps ;-) Last edited by clamel; 07-10-2008 at 07:44 AM. |

For my OOTP 2008 set, I had the DRays often winning it all when there was a test sim and people complained!
![]() southside -- awesome stuff, that's just the type of stuff I'm looking for, I'll throw all that in! |

Just thought I'd drop in and say that I downloaded version 2.0 and I'm really pleased with it so far. The ratings are much more like what I imagined the MLB players to be. Thanks for all the hard work!

Couple things.
Instead of putting the 2008 First Rounders into the draft pool, why not just throw in BA's Draft Top 200? It might be subscriber-only, but I can email it to you if you don't have BA. Also, instead of using just PECOTA for our projection source, maybe we could compile PECOTA, Marcel, and ZiPS? They're all readily available for use... |

Would work perfect for me, was thinking about doing those three together but wanted to get some new ratings in there ASAP that were at least a bit closer to where we wanted them to be.
I have BA but don't check their draft coverage much, I'll give it a look! |

Also I'm really excited about the 2.5 release, these prospects lists are looking almost identical to Baseball America's when finished, I know we had some problems in recent years with that. Next release should be a big one!

Cubby, I'll link you to BA's draft top 200.
Your last post worries me somewhat. BA is not the only source re: prospects, and they certainly have their flaws. No source is completely flawless, but that's why we were going towards a compilation of rankings. IMO, we should start with teams already in the ranking compilation (i.e., not Arizona), and give me another week or so to finish the rest of the spready. |

Hate to be a stickler about ratings, but Brad Lidge is rated extremely low. :/ He's the best closer in the league this year, and while this year shouldn't be considered, it's still pretty low considering he only had one bad year overall...

Hey, if you let me know what prospects you're adding, I'll try to add their pictures into my set I'm working on.
I only have about 150 guys left to do from the latest roster patch (I've added 1,600+). Also, if I could get that BA top 200 draft list, I'll try to find pictures of them to put in there so they'll have pics.
