Well, they beat the Rays today, finally, thanks to Gardner's homer and a spectacular game-saving catch by Judge in RF.

That's the thing about Judge, so far at least. The power is proven, but there's more. Not only is he hitting for average (still .321 after 0 for 4 today), but he is playing great in the field.

The Yankees promoted Gleyber Torres to Triple-A yesterday. However, looking at his age (20) and his Double-A slash line (.273/.367/.496) to go along with 5 homers and 18 RBI's reminds me of times when I ignore the upward green arrows in my OOTPB organization window. Too young and not ready for promotion. Apparently the Yankees disagree, so shut my mouth.

Read this today in a Jerry Crasnick article on ESPN:

"Aaron Judge recently joined Mickey Mantle, Babe Ruth, Alex Rodriguez and Tino Martinez as the fifth player in Yankees history to hit 15 homers in the first 40 games of a season. "

Those guys were pretty good...

Look, Gardner went 1-4 today with a walk and is still batting only .247. Even with these three RBI's he has only 10 for the year, sixth on the team in that stat and trailing guys like Castro, Torreyes, and Hicks. Speaking of Hicks, I'd have him starting most games in LF over Gardner.
Gardner: 9 hrs, 19 RBI, .281 BA, .373 OBP, .900 OPS

C'mon, Bru, how do you like your crow? Parmigiana? Ã* la mode? Chicken fried? Perhaps served with a nice Chardonnay?

Me, I'm a Brooklyn gavone at heart. I'll take mine served up as a topping on a large Sicilian pie with peppers and olives.

Seriously, you're not happy the Yanks held on to him? I was willing to part with him for nothing more than a dusty old box of Alf pogs just to make sure there was room in the OF when Frazier gets called up later in the year. Now, if they do trade Gardner, I want a primo prospect.

BTW...Apropos of nothing written above, but Gleyber Torres just hit his first HR at AAA while I was writing this.

Alright already! I'll let Gardner stay in the Bronx for now. One call from me and he's gone, you know, but I'll let him stay.

Say, I'm probably also wrong about Torres being ready for AAA but if he comes to the Bronx later this year and does well, I'll let him stay too.
