Waivers/Team AI

I bought this game back when it was in beta. I read the horror stories on here, so essentially didn't even attempt to play a game until now. (Because of latest patch)

Just played my very first game of the season. After the game, I clicked on waivers to see if I could cheaply fill a hole - thinking beginning of season would be a good time to take advantage of salary crunched teams.

This is what I see:

Pretty disappointing.

Obviously, this shouldn't happen. I go to LA's team finances to see what's up. They were indeed over the cap, but this is ridiculous. They waiver 4 stars players and plus 5 other regulars.

This is a normal game started with the latest patch. About as generic as you could get. Nothing tweaked.

Stuff like this ruins the entire integrity of a SIM, and essentially forced me to turn off the game after game 1.

If I'm missing something, please advise. Thanks.

Why was this moved to Technical Support where no one will see it?

Since that post, I've simmed about a week. Not one of those players were claimed on waivers (obviously they'd be claimed IRL), and then they were sent to the AHL. Now, this makes very little sense in the new CBA because if it was a salary issue, sending to the AHL no longer relieves teams of the salary cap hit.

I had this happen after a trade (initiated by a game controlled team) for Henrik Tallinder. Detroit dumped 5 or so players onto waivers to make monetary room for him...players like Nyquist...good, solid starters if not stars.

My post in the bugs report thread read like this:

I think I saw a post somewhere about this, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to bring it up again as it happened in my game last night...with the latest version, in my first season that I just started.

I'm playing the Sabres and I put Henrik Tallinder on the trade list...right around Jan 1st I got a trade offer from the Detroit Red Wings offering a younger forward, not particularly capable (6.0 rating) but I figured I'd go for it. He would fill a nice role with the Rochester Americans and at least I got something for Tallinder, who's contract was up at the end of the season...and he's old...and his skills have declined.

I tried to negotiate a draft pick into the deal too, but as soon as I opened that window, Detroit informed me they didn't have the money to afford Tallinder's contract and it wouldn't allow the trade.

I closed the window and then re-opened the email from Detroit about the trade and accepted the trade with no issues...except...

Detroit ended up tried to sneak 4 or 5 players through waivers down to the minors. Without thinking I claimed Gustav Nyquist...a player I've coveted and had unsuccessfully tried to trade for. Of course...I got him.

Then I remembered reading somewhere about this issue...and I kinda felt bad about it, but I figured he would have been claimed anyway....

The Red Wings ended up losing all the players they put on waivers...good, solid players for the most part.

So there is an obvious issue in this instance. I wonder how many other teams have done this, dumping solid, if not real good players into waivers to make room and these players would never have been waived in real life...

It needs to be fixed....

Thanks for listening.

Besides that, I'm enjoying the hell out of this game.
