You'll have to find some other excuse to pick on Cubs fans. I don't think they care all that much about Arrieta. He had a couple of outstanding years with the team, helped them win the WS, threw two no-hitters, and didn't cause much controversy. On the other hand, he wasn't really a well-loved player - I rarely saw anyone wearing Arrieta jerseys at Cubs games. Bryant and Rizzo are the fan favorites, along with characters like Schwarber and Baez. And it didn't help that Arrieta's political views, on those rare occasions when he expressed them, tended to lean hard right.

The reason that he's not a Cub has everything to do with his agent, Scott Boras. Arrieta could have signed for more per year with the Cubs than what the Cubs eventually agreed to pay Yu Darvish - which is crazy when you think of it because right now Darvish is a better investment than Arrieta is.

I think a lot of Cubs fans are grateful to Arrieta for all that he did for the team and wish him well in Philly, but they're not exactly weeping and wailing about his departure. So if you want to annoy Cubs fans, you need to find some other target. Personally, the fact that Ron Santo ended his career as a south-sider is still a little irritating.

As a Cubs fan...the Phillies get a guy that last year was spotting teams a 4 run lead. The Phillies dont have the offense to give Arrieta his no decision.

Arrieta is getting paid off one great year...good for him I guess. The Cubs have sites on more championships and Arrieta isnt worth it.

I take back everything nice I said about them. This game against the Braves was sloppily played, appallingly managed, and lacking in fundamental skills and concentration. The entire organization needs to sit through film of the game about a dozen times.
