Scouting Department
One thing I noticed is the total lack of scouting positions beyond the Head scout. Thought it really lacking not to have at least an assistant Scout Director, or even a International/Amateur Scout specialist for draft recommendations. A LOT more to scouting than just on person, and more and more MLB organizations pool multiple opinions on various players amongst their scouting pool, and GMs are tending to seek out multiple opinions on potential draftees, signs, and in particular international players this really comes into play.
Would LOVE to be able to CHOOSE where your scouts search for international talent at. It almost feels like my scouting director "finds" a new talent semi-randomly. Usually in DR of course, but I feel it'd be a boost to be able to send them to scour for talent in the US Japan, other Caribbean Rim nations, Korea, etc (even looking to find that RARE Dutch national or maybe the game whips up a solid arm from Italy or one of the other leagues that grow if you have the evolution of the leagues enabled, a concept i find really cool!) Basically I see a LOT of potential of expanding on scouting next year, and this could be a MAJOR way to expand on to really make OOTP even better with an overhaul of the scouting system to be detail oriented and MUCH more like it is IRL for GMs. Like how they have their draft boards set up. Being able to put together a draft board of who you want based on recommendations of who is meeting your needs/etc (or "best available talent") and seeing them pulled bit by bit or seeing a guy you wanted if you could have had two picks drop a round or two right into your lap would be really awesome! (I have an IRL friend who is a low tier guy in our team's front office, and he says one of the most intense experiences for them (as the low rungs don't go to winter meetings obviously, lol) is draft day. Would be cool to replicate it! ![]() |

Fantastic idea. Football Manager has this and does it well. I think OOTP should have it too.

Believe me, I'm not 100% on scouting anyway. But hear me out. A guy from my online league brought it up and thought it was worth sharing. If scouting was set up more as a department. Overall Scouting Director but there are scouting regions, with staff for own region. Within the US you can break it up by the corners of the country, and even have an international department where you send scouts to Japan, Mexico, etc. High school and college scouts if you really want to drill down. Within the scouting budget, you could fine tune the allocated money for scouting to focus more attention on a geographical area. Of course this option would be more for folks who want to manage a team's operations more so than actual game play. |
