I'm working on an update to the historical ballpark files for OOTP18. It's close to being ready, but I'm holding off until silvam completes his 3D ballpark additions (still a WIP). I'll probably make the files available through Steam Workshop later this week. (It won't be the final version, but I can update the Steam version much more easily than the Add-Ons Central version.)

Do you recommend not to download the ones up there now? If yes which ones?

The New and Improved version, if it's still there, should work fine. It's abut 5GB in size, IIRC.

I get this same exact thing on all of the parks with 3D crowds. I just bought a new graphics card and have the latest drivers. Can't figure it out why it does this.

The crowds that come with the OOTP18 parks are all fine. I can see them.

Hi, PStrickert:

In Add-Ons Central, I now see "Improved" (Parts 1-6) and "Updated" (five volumes, each by a span of some years). Which ones should we bring into OOTP18?

My earlier question stands, as well: Will bringing these in do anything "bad" to the 3D parks that came with the game? I'd love the historical sets, but don't want to lose the nice new models.

Thanks for this project. Very cool.

The new files for OOTP18 have not been added yet. jazzrack has them but he's still in the process of making them available. I would expect it to happen soon.

The Steam version is available NOW through Steam Workshop.

Are your parks installed in the models folder in the game directory? They have to be in the models folder

Voila! jazzrack has added the historical ballpark files to OOTP Mods (available now through Add-Ons Central). Please use this server URL:

http://ootpmods.com/mods/ootpmods18.xml

Thanks, jazz!

README:

HISTORICAL BALLPARKS 1901-2016
by pstrickert

IMPORTANT:

When a new OOTP build is installed, it will overwrite the "advertising" folder (inside the "models" folder). So, after installing this mod, please copy the "advertising" folder and keep it somewhere safe. Use it to overwrite the "advertising" folder whenever a new OOTP build is installed.

INSTALLATION:

Download and install through Workshop Central (or Add-Ons Central). You should then have separate folders for each season in your "ballparks" folder. In this same folder, you should also have a "models" folder and hundreds of individual ballpark picture and outline files.

INCLUDED:

* historical ballpark photos (for use in Broadcast mode)

* historical ballpark outline files (for use in Webcast mode)

* 3D stadium files (for use in 3D mode).

NOTES:

* For teams which played in more than one ballpark during the same season (e.g., Cincinnati played in Crosley Field and Riverfront Stadium in 1970), I chose to assign the newer of the two ballparks to that particular team.

* When two teams shared the same ballpark during a season, I created separate .prk files (denoted with 'AL' and 'NL') -- both of which will be loaded and properly assigned during the import process.

* Ball location markers have NOT been assigned. To make them accurate, users themselves must adjust the markers.

CREDITS:

* Most of the historical stadium outlines were created by nielsoncp. He also helped me streamline the update process. Thanks, Chris!

* Most of the historical 3D models were created by silvam. Spectacular work, Mike! adion also added backgrounds to some of the classic stadiums. Sensational!

* Most of the ballpark photos were parts of ballpark collections made available at OOTPMods or other websites.

Do we download the improved or updated files from Add Ons Central, pstrickert? Thanks for your hard work!

Neither. The file names are "Pstrickert Historical Ballparks" (in eight parts). They should be at the top of the list, if you've added the OOTP Mods server for OOTP18.

Yes. They all are. I've got a new amd graphics card and the came play is great. Nice and smooth. Better with your ballparks than the OOTP ones. I know it must be my settings or something. The card has settings that I don't understand them. I'm stupid with graphics. Don't know what they are talking about. I've tried some different settings and all I can see is that the quality changes to not as crisp looking. The parks play just fine. All of them. Even adions with the backgrounds. But I just can't get the 3D crowds. Is there suppose to be a texture in adions parks that have 3D crowds? Because I don't see any. In your parks, I see, crowd1, crowd2,....etc. Is this the problem, maybe?

I just downloaded these and tried a game in Wrigley Field for my historical league in 3D. I got this. Tried the next game at Yankee stadium. Same thing.

The fields are on their side.

I figured it out, I think. After going through all the teams in the ballpark settings for 3D, I noticed some teams models were good while others were on their side. The ones on their side were reading a default view which wasn't the object file (.pod, etc). When I switched Wrigley to Wrigley.obj it worked.

I have downloaded all parts to the prstrickett ballpark mod, however when I click install I receive this message, "Add-ons_dialogue: install_file-could not install files from archive." Do I need to extract them before installation?

No, you shouldn't receive that message. Be sure you downloaded the correct files; it has eight parts (or is it 9?).

Yes, you've got it. Your best bet would be to report this issue in the bug reports forum. Have you downloaded any other Mods through Add-Ons Central? Do they install?
