Boston Red Sox 8 - 4 New York Yankees The Boston Red Sox knocked off the New York Yankees, 8-4, at Yankee Stadium. Hanley Ramirez, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Boston won. The first baseman hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. David Price, credited with the win, is now 6-2. He allowed 4 runs on 4 hits in 7.2 innings. The Red Sox own a robust 85-33 mark. Ramirez had a big at-bat with the bases empty in the top of the fourth inning, when he hit a solo home run. The Red Sox went on to win. "I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Ramirez. "And not try to do too much." |

Boston Red Sox 9 - 2 St. Louis Cardinals The Boston Red Sox grabbed a 9-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals at Fenway Park. Boston designated hitter Hanley Ramirez went 2 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 to earn player of the game honors. Eduardo Rodriguez was the winning pitcher. Over 8 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, with 1 walk and 1 strikeout. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for the Red Sox. Ramirez had an important at-bat with a runner on 2nd in the bottom of the sixth, when he hit a 2-run home run. The Red Sox went on to win. Ramirez called the triumph "a good team win." Boston Red Sox 7 - 4 St. Louis Cardinals Boston right-hander Joe Kelly pitched his team to victory over the St. Louis Cardinals at Fenway Park. The final score was 7-4. Kelly, the winner, moves to 11-4. He threw 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 4 walks. Carson Smith was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 2 save opportunities. St. Louis had the bases loaded in the top of the sixth. With two out, Eric Fryer came to bat, hoping to do some damage. Instead, he struck out. The score remained 3-2, Boston. The Cardinals saw their comeback bid fail. The Red Sox have an impressive 87-33 record. Magic Number reduced to 21. |
