Players moved off roster to inactive

I am helping a friend get started learning baseball and playing the game. I logged in, bought and sold some players and set their lineup, pitching staff and depth chart all at once and clicked submit team for them Monday morning. They emailed me their team report last night and something looked off. Two players who were bought and added to the roster ended up off the roster and I found them in inactive cards. I reset the team this morning and logged in again today and they were gone again, back to inactive cards. I reset the roster a third time and looked at the results of the past two games and it seems to be in order. What would cause this?

At first I thought maybe I didn't click submit team, but I couldnt have done that both yesterday and today and besides all the other moves I made were in place and these 2 cards showed up on the reserve roster after buying now and were never inactive in the first place.
