Season 3

Money Matters!

If there is one thing that the ALB has in common with any other sport, is that if you have money, you can generally buy success. That saying falls into place for Las Vegas, the City awash with cash and a Indoor Baseball team spending at record levels to try and bring back a Championship.

The Gamblers are spending well over $1,000,000 per annum on their teams salary than any other in the league, that nears $2,000,000 when you take into account those at the bottom end of the chart. 9 of the leagues top 20 earners are all based in Vegas, there is little doubt that the ownership of this team thrives on success.

Winning in Vegas?

To that end, it was no surprise that the Gamblers took their 3rd straight division crown after a close race between themselves and the upstart Vancouver Express. Vegas would become the 2nd team to win 60 games in a year, going on to collect 61 wins and losing just 8 at home.

In response the Canadiens would collect 58 and easily claim a spot in the One Game Shootout. The Express would excel based on the leagues best bullpen, becoming the first team to post a sub 8.00ERA in that category, with American Dan Liberti moving from a spot starting role to full time closer and collecting a league record 20 saves in the process.

Who else?

The Showboats continued to represent in the playoffs as they won their 2nd division title in 3 years (albeit on a 5 game skid), whilst the Flyers pushed hard for the last OGS spot, winning 5 on the spin to end the season but falling just shy of the Portland Mavericks, who will debut in the playoffs this year.

And LA....

Once again there will be no repeat on the cards as the Gunslingers slipped off the pace to finish 6 games below .500, whilst the pre-season tip of Charlotte also fell to the wayside as their offense was unable to carry them to anything more than 41 wins and an early holiday.

Season 3

The Power Years!

With players now beginning to fully adjust to their surroundings, the fans got more of what they wanted, big hits and plenty of bombs as over 6 players would go yard 40+ times this year, with the Showboats Ryan Abood upping to productivity to lead the class with 44, alongside Cameron Silva of Indianapolis.

Vancouver on the other hand made good their season based on the clinical 1-2 combination of Geyer and McBride, as the pair hit for .500 or better in the top of the Express' batting order. They laid the table for the rest of their team to feast on.

Speed!

Once more Calvina made the basepaths his own, coming in with 67 bags but unlike last year, that made little difference to the overall struggling offense of Los Angeles.

“I am like any other man. All I do is supply a demand.”

Like his namesake, Capone continues to haunt his opposition putting up numbers that should well win him the Arena Man of the Year award. With Capone doing all he can on the field, he will hope to take his form into the playoffs to finally get Vegas over the hump.

Tough times on the Mound!

The highlight for many this year was the pitching of Vancouvers bullpen, an area of the game that had not really gained any traction until the Express and their newly converted Closer Dan Liberti.

Outside of that, there is a lack of real consistency across pitchers in the league. Diego Siqueiros continues to pepper the top of the charts, whilst Ashworth of LV would be the only pitcher to win 10 games this time round.

Code:
LEAGUE LEADERS W

1	Joe Ashworth LV	10
2	Mike Johnson	IND	9
2	Gerbrand RoukemaVAN	9
2	Diego Siqueiros	NO	9
