Brooklyn made SIX errors leading to THREE unearned runs. Despite that, behind the great outing by Cale Bernard, they beat the Cubs 9-4.

Bernard went 3 for 5 with a homer and four RBI.

WP - Eddie Plank (30-14)
LP - Cy Falkenberg (9-16)

Record - 88-60

The Pirates were idle so the Superbas are back by 3 games, with each team having six remaining.

In the AL The Athletics lead the Highlanders by a half game.

Fresh off his Player of the Week nod, Christy Mathewson pitched the Superbas past the Reds for a 4-2 win.

Jose Martinez and Adam Schmidt both went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI.

WP - Christy Mathewson (28-14)
LP - Big Jeff Pfeffer (17-21)

However, the Pirates also won. Their Magic Number is three.
Brooklyn needs some help here.

The game was cancelled due to bad weather.

Now Brooklyn has a double-header with Boston tomorrow and one more game with them on the 6th.

The Pirates have one game each day, facing the Reds.

The first game of the double header was a little choppy as the SUperba defense coughed up four runs off of five errors.

Some great pitching by Eddie Plank and some strong hitting by Cale Barnard, Francisco Roman, and the rest did the trick, though, as they beat the Doves 6-4.

WP - Eddie Plank (31-14)
LP - Scott Williams (9-18)

Record - 92-60

The Pirates lost to the Reds! Brooklyn now leads by a half game with another game to come today!

The second game of the double header was a much tighter affair, but the result was the same as Brooklyn beat Boston 2-1!

Cy Young pitched a gem and Pat Locke went 4 for 4!

WP - Cy Young (11-11)
LP - George Winter (18-23)

Record - 93-60

Brooklyn has a full game lead on the Pirates. They go into eh final day with a Magic Number of ONE!

With the chance to clinch the NL Pennant on the line... the game in Boston was rained out.

Meanwhile, the Pirates won, so tomorrow Brooklyn will either win the National League or be forced into tie-breaker game with Pittsburgh.

While Brooklyn had a slightly better record than New York, on paper the Highlanders have a bit of an advantage.

New York was 1st in the AL in offence and 3rd in pitching.

Brooklyn was 5th in the NL in offence and 2nd in pitching.
