In one the very last patches then. 19.13 something. In one of the PT patches as I understood it.

But if I start in 1985, WHY are Warren Cromartie in and not Ubaldo ?
Cromartie played in Japan in 1985 and are in as a FA,
Ubaldo playes in Mexico in 1985 and pops up in the draft pool for 1987.
I based that on your answer that
"Any players who played in a foreign league are ignored"

In my book both should be handled similar, or ?

Never mind, but the answer WHEN Ubaldo gets in isn't really the issue but that he pops up in a draft pool +30 years old. If he was handled similar as Warren he would have been in 1985 as a FA, which I think would have been a much better solution than the present one.
Only my views I'm sure.

Neither player has any record in the database for 1985 and when I made a test league starting in 1985 neither player is in it. I can only surmise you may have some box checked that causes this. I used default out of the box settings.

OK, but still don't you think it's strange that two players with same background of not playing in 1985, but both prio and post that year, is handled differently by the game and the import. No ticked or unticked can make this selection.

I got ticked
Import Historical minors
Import and maintain real minor leaguers
Retire acc history
auto import hist rookie
amateur draft on 15 Dec.

and unticked
player miss season
use random rookie

So if I understood if ticked Player Miss Season Acc to history BOTH players should be omitted as you say for 1985 then pop up later.
BUT unticked they should pop up just as they do keep playing if they had 88-89 missed in RL. This is a very old issue of OOTP.

Only difference is Warren played in Japan -85 BUT had majorleague years prior to 85, Ubaldo had no MLB years prior to 85.
Can't figure out how BOTH was missed in your testrun. Cromartie have been in every setup of my OOTP versions back to when the case with players that did miss some years (ex Vogelsong) wasn't imported. Fact is that he should be in yours, so why not ?

That Ubaldo pop up in the draft class is just another problem the game hasn't thought off. No 30year old should go in the pool but turn up as FA.
Think most (as I did up to now) play with historical players popping into the team they really signed their first contract with. Then this will not be seen or occur. I bet Japanese players later will also pop up in the draft pool and not as FA ready to be signed by every team. With no amateur draft they of course will go to the correct team. Ichiro Suzuki in Seattle, but in mine with draft he probably come on as draft pool player.

Then something isn't 100% correct since I got another issue with John Mitchell. He played since 1983 minors and up in Majors 86. I tried two setups and he popped up as a possible draft player in my first year. He should have been in the game from the start in Boston. His minor stats was lost (83-85). If I deleted him when he popped up as draftpool player and imported him back, he was imported correctly with all stats even from 83-85.
Imported as mitchjo02

Well I guess thousands of players so we will get the odd ones wrong in some cases. Need to live with that I guess.

Some mismatch is wrong here, and easily better blame it on me. Just too many ticks and unticks stuff in such a detailed game. Then with so many combos it's easy that some do turn out wrong even still after so many years.

So many possible ticks it is a wonder we don't all come down with lyme disease.

When the game was designed originally it used a players first MLB year for the draft even if they were 49. There was never a reasonable draft age and there still is not. If you have drafting enabled everybody starts there.

I have no idea how you are getting players in your draft of 1985 debuts if the player did not play in 1985 except retire according to history and players miss seasons were not ticked in my test. Either or both could be the cause.

Not a database issue, but figured I would post it here just to see if anyone else has seen it. I just finished 1946. Not using historical minors. I have the draft turned off and playing going to their debut teams.

On 10/12/1946 Jackie Robinson goes to the Brooklyn Dodgers. Larry Doby goes to the Cleveland Indians.

On 11/01/1946 the Dodgers release Jackie Robinson. The Indians release Larry Doby on the same day.

Robinson signs a one year deal with the White Sox.
Doby signs a one year deal with Senators

Both players signed their deals on 01/06/1947

I have seen this sort of thing with Lou Gehrig and the Yankees more than once.

I think these two Rafael Santanas are sharing IDs (or something).

Minor Leaguer: https://www.baseball-reference.com/r...d=santan003raf
Major League SS: https://www.baseball-reference.com/p...antara01.shtml

A 1976 league I created with v19 shows the minor league pitcher with the SS's major league ID (santara01), but with the correct minor league ID (santan003raf).

He shows with the correct minor league stats but with the SS's major league stats.

A 1980 league imported only the SS.

This may have been reported earlier as I see nothing currently incorrect
santan002raf is the minor league record the SS is attached to.

I just noticed that the Minor Leagues are not evolving with MLB. I am in a long term historical Sim, in 1970 the entire DE Network of Minor Leagues and the Negro National League should be only memories, and not active minor leagues.

if you have set any leagues to unaffiliated they remain forever. this is by design.
